4001 black seems to be stable, but no direct evidence available as it was written around the same time in another book.

it seems indeed quite likely then that the mixing of the two is the reason.

Bril Royal blue -> 99.999% similar to Pelikan 4001 royal blue. It costs around 30 INR = 0.35 USD.

Sometimes, you should consider Indian inks too. Pretty sure, Bril will be cheaper even after import customs.

 

About the Jinhao 65, I am not a fan of Chinese products. However, a friend of mine sold it to me for 20 INR, the nib was twisted and bent. Got it fixed and here it goes.
