Does it mean that it might have some maintenance issues with pens?

As with ALL inks, it's not a good thing to let your pen dry out. However, I've had 4001 in a Pelikan M405 for years and only given it the occasional, and I mean, occasional flush and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Although I tend not to let ink dry in pens, it was the presence of IG that made me ask the question.

My intention is to put it into a Sheaffer Jade which is an incredibly wet writer.

* UPDATE.

On Sunday, I splashed out on a new bottle to replace the grey mush version I had and am loving the "real" PKBB experience :wub:

Now I see what all the fuss is about. Phew.

So in my wanderings online trying to order this ink I found that because of some element in it's make up it is not sold here in the US. The Amazon vendor selling it to me is in Japan, and it's on it's way to me, even though it will take a couple of weeks to get here. I guess the rest of you had figured this out several years ago!

Works great in my Pelikan, Montblanc and Lamy extra fines. Satisfying, thin line.

I can vouchsafe for its good behavior and its usefulness on cheap, over-absorbent paper. But it has also got to be one of the drabbest ink colors available. In a fine-tipped pen ESSRI yields a darker grey more to my liking.
