Parker Pen Or Ink Problem, I Can't Tell

Hello, I've been using Pilot Metropolitan as a beginner fountain pen, and few days ago I ordered a Parker Premier Monochrome Black Edition to make a upgrade.

And when I tried to write with it I noticed that the ink is not coming out as well whenever I write. Would this be a ink problem or the nib/pen problem? I'm thinking of returning this pen if it's the pen/nib problem.

Here is a example of what I'm talking about

It's little hard to see in the numbers, but in the second slash you can definitely see the gradient. it's little gray on the top then more dark on the bottom.

Can someone please help me and let me know what I should do?

I am not sure that there is an actual problem. Possibly you are seeing shading, which is generally liked. Try writing 88888888888s and ///////// \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ and ----------------- for a line or two to see how it looks

Two thoughts. First is to agree with Parkette.

Second is that sometimes I have either water in the feed after cleaning, or on a new pen, there can other reasons that there is some dilution of flow issues (I don't totally understand the causes, but what you want is a solution). One solution is to flush the pen in and out a few times with the ink you intend to use.

But, what I think you have is shading of the ink. Most pen people like it. I gives more personality than a ball point or roller ball. But I usually don't like shading in black ink. But it is a really beautiful feature of colored inks.
