5 Best Diamine Inks

Fishynik6

Recommended Posts

You asked two different questions - which are Diamine's best inks, and which inks represent the brand.

Just to mix it up, let me answer a third question - my favorite Diamine inks. Now, these are not the inks that I would recommend that you buy if you are a newbie or have a limited collection of inks.

Sargasso Sea, Bilberry, Majestic Blue, Imperial Purple, Blue Velvet.

Each of these inks will sheen or is stupendous in some way. Blue Velvet, I would recommend to a newbie, but the other four are all high maintenance inks that require you to clean your pens and not let the ink dry out in the feed. Nevertheless, I adore them.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Hi amber!

What is your favorite turquoise-ish color from diamine?

Preferably something with high shading.

All of them look about the same in color to me :?

This is in the turquoise family: Steel Blue - https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/225953-diamine-steel-blue/

A fellow FPN member sent me a letter last week written with Diamine Majestic Blue and I nearly had a seizure reading it. :-p

Ooh. Hmmm. Where do I begin....

What best represents the brand? Not a clue.

What are the "best" Diamine inks? Ditto.

What are my favorites? That's somewhat easier until I have to narrow it down to five.... :wallbash:

Okay, in no particular order (at the moment)

Tyrian Purple

Eclipse

Classic Red

Emerald

Denim

(runners up include Anniversary Terra Cotta; Flower Collection Carnation, Aster and Cornflower; and Grey).

I can't in good conscience put Sargasso Sea into any of the possible categories above. The color is absolutely gorgeous, but it gets cloggy very quickly in every pen I've tried it in. :(

Did anyone mention Grey? I'm amazed how much I can love such a basic color. A great ink.

I like the grey a lot

I also love the rich colour of Sargasso Sea. Pity it's such a git to clean

Grey is good but Silver Fox is even better.

Someone swapped a sample of Silver Fox with me, so now I'm doubly looking forward to tryin it!

@fishynik6 - I did these the other day. Then totally forgot - I hope they help a bit. (I'll stick them in the other forum where I mentioned them). The colour balance is probably a bit off, but you should be able to see shading. (Rhodia dot pad)

I got a letter written in Steel Blue last week and it is an absolutely amazing color.

My Diamine favorite:

Ancient Copper

I tried a sample and then bought the 80 ml bottle. I have it in two pens, a medium wet nib and a fine nib-it shades in both. :yikes: Both pens close tightly, so I've had no nib creep and no hard starts. I thought I did in the fine nib, but it was out of ink.

My favorites are:

Asa Blue

Chocolate

Amazing Amethyst

As for Autumn Oak, I really like the color but two things I don't like are that it color shifts when loaded for a few days. It tends to go from a bright orange and eventually to it's darker shade. Additionally, I would suggest good pen maintenance particularly when using demonstrators as it can stain some and make clean up hard.

If you had to choose 5 diamine inks to represent the brand what would you choose?

Im currently looking to buy a twsbi eco with some diamine inks and alt goldgrun and am having a hard time deciding. This should help!

The inks I have chosen so far are:

  1. Autumn Oak
  2. Oxblood
  3. Maybe sherwood green
  4. One of the turquoise colors

I'd trade out the Autumn Oak for Ancient Copper, Sherwood Green is good, Imperial Purple is great if you like purples, Asa Blue and Majestic Blue are great looking blues. I found Noodlers Turquoise Eel to be a really nice blue turquoise.
