Unusual Conway Stewart?

Hello Enthusiasts,

 

I am an amateur collector of fountain pens with a particular interest in specific models (as opposed to entire brands). However, I have found that am particularly drawn to Conway Stewart’s of all models. I find the designs attractive and, in general, like the feel of pens in my hand and the smoothness of the nibs.

I recently acquired a pen clearly marked as follows:

Conway Stewart Pen

The International

No. 350 M (Mottled)

 

It is the 5^th pen from the left (top row) in the attached photo. I have found numerous references to the 350 but not in a mottled version. Does anyone know anything more about this pen?

The M Suffix denotes a 1920's MHR pen

 

With a nice collection like that, and an interest in the marque, I would strongly suggest you acquire Steve Hull's book on the history of CS. (If you cannot source one locally then PM me, I can probably help)

Very nice collection. The tiger eye looks really good!

The two cracked iced patterns look quite different, which is interesting too.

The Hull is great read for CS collectors.

Thank you. The Hull book has been a great read. I appreciate the writer's balance regarding the history of the company, the people, the real estate and pens. Not a pen book but a company biography. Extremely well researched Mr. Hull.

I have it from the horse's mouth (so to speak) that his next book, the long awaited History of DLR / Onoto will be available to purchase in October (that is 2016 ). He is taking orders now for the 100 hard bound limited edition version.
