Iroshizuku Tsukushi (Horsetail Brown)

I presume nearly everyone knows of the Iroshizuku line of inks. I'm sure this ink has been reviewed many times, but decided to add my two cents. Most browns on the market fall into the reddish-brown category. Tsukushi is not an exception. This ink has a strong burgundy undertone while Iroshizuku's Yama-guri has a much more green cast to it. As expected, a very well behaved ink.

The chromatography isn't terribly interesting. The ink has some water resistance, a lot of the ink washes away, but some if left behind to be readable.

As usual papers are MvL=Mohawk via Linen, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, TR=Tomoe River.

Thanks for the review. That looks a little darker than I would like in a brown, but I may have to try a sample for myself some day.

For me, Irosi Tsukusi & OMAS sepia go neck & neck.

Funny about personal preferences,... at one time I used both Tsukushi & Yama-Guri, but soon I sent the later to a friend. Not enough red.

Tsukushi looks much lighter with my stubs & CIs, particularly the wider ones.

My bottle sheens like mad on Tomoe River. I like it and I appreciate the water resistance. Perhaps not the most interesting ink in the world but a nice one. Underrated as far as Iroshizukus go IMO.

I love the reddish tint in the MB Toffee Brown but the ink is too dry.. If this is anything similar, I'm getting me a bottle!

I got Yama Guri which turned out to be a matte brown.

The text in my images is too dark. Tsukushi is lighter than the Toffee Brown. The former is much warmer than the Yama-guri, and it's reddish-brown like a horsetail. The MB Toffee Brown is more darker brown.

Interestingly, when I reviewed the MB, I found it's flow to be excellent, but that was in a Binderized medium nib.
