Unusual Lamy Demonstrators On Ebay

Reevers

Recommended Posts

I came across these two unsual (to me, anyway) Lamy demonstrator pens. I didn't have the funds to join the bidding on these, but I still enjoyed finding them.

Does anyone have any information to share on these pens? When were they in production? How many were made?

Of course if anyone wants to come forward as the new owner(s) and claim their bragging rights, please do so with more photos!

They both look like Lamy 27 (one is listed as Lamy 27)

The '27' looks very similar to Parker 51 except it is piston filler and (on the normal non-demonstrator) has ink windows to see level of ink. It's the forerunner of the Lamy 2000. Very nice well-made pens of the early 50's to early 60's.

The second picture, with the domed cap jewel and domed filler-nob is the earlier of the two. The first picture with the 'L' on the Jewel and squared-off filler-nob is later.

They both have wonderful collectors - like the Parker 51. There's a little bit more flex with the nibs (because they're larger) compared to the Parker 51 nails.

To my eye, the metal capped (rolled gold or stainless) versions look more elegant. They have similar clutch mechanisms to the P51.
