I'll have a quick look through the list (to see who's still active on it) and hopefully get it off again during the coming week.

I just read through this thread detailing the continuing saga of the '51 loaner program. What a sweet idea. For those of us who are relatively new to fountain pens or, like myself, are accustomed only to using newer fountain pens, this is a chance to gain an appreciation for what more experienced users find to be excellent pens. I think it would be interesting for others to start up similar loaner programs with other pens or even types of nibs. I am a collector of slide rules and I know of several loaner programs that send entire sets of slide rules to various schools so an entire class may learn the principles of the instrument. These programs usually rely upon a nominal deposit or some kind of insurance. If problems continue with loaning out the pens, perhaps a better strategy might be a pen rental program...those on the waiting list contribute some amount of money for the use of the pen for two weeks. The money given could pay for a new pen in the case of loss or for future repair in case the pen is damaged or needs maintenance. Regardless, bravo!
