Once we get home, though, we'll PayPal you with the payment. Where we're staying on the Big Island, internet connections are "iffy". We may or may not have access, hence waiting until our return to pay for the pen on the 11th of March (well before your deadline of the 18th). I hope this will not be an inconvenience. Wow, I'm actually from the big island. I returned from visiting my family on the 20th of January. If you golf, I'd recommend makalei. And Waimea is beautiful, but I lived in Kohala.

How cool is that?! This will be my first trip there, and I've been wanting to go my entire life. I came w/in 2 months of being born there when my father was stationed at the base on Oahu, and I grew up listening to my parents' stories of how wonderful it is. Unfortunately (for me!), his stint with the army was up, and instead of staying there 'til I was born, they went home to Oregon :-p. We're staying in a VRBO rental on the south-east side of the BI, on Kapoho Bay. We have friends who live in Orchidlands Estates, and we'll be visiting them while we're there. Otherwise, we'll be touring the entire island while we're there, taking a whale-watching tour, visiting all the touristy places (and hopefully, the NOT so touristy places!) on the island, photographing just about everything, and just generally exploring to see whether we might be interested in eventually purchasing a place there, someday. We won't, know, though, 'til we figure out if we like the climate and can deal with the Centipedes, B-52s, Little Fire Ants, Cane Spiders, etc. By which I mean, if we can effectively either avoid them or kill them off wherever we decided to purchase a place! LOL! Except the Cane Spiders--I hear they're harmless, despite their size? Not to mention, we'll want to know how the VOG affects us, and how friendly the locals are or are not in any given area, as I hear some places are more welcoming than others.

 

Neither Zwack nor I golf, I'm afraid. He's from Scotland, so you'd think he'd be into it, but he tends to describe golf as a "waste of a nice walk in the countryside" :-).

 

OK, sorry to hijack the thread. I now return you to your regularly scheduled pen talk :-).
