This is a very, very nice pen! I also like the Ruthenium one a lot.

Unfortunately the prices in the UK are still sky high for the new Duofolds. The prices on French Amazon are not much better either.

I guess Parker are waiting to sell off the stock of the older Duofold models before releasing many of the new ones.

Is anyone in the USA carrying these for sale?

If I'm not mistaken, this pen like some other Parker Duofold LE pens, are for the Asian countries market. Not USA. Therefore, usually US retailers won't have these Asian market LE pens. But suppose there could be an exception somewhere, but I don't know of one....

I'm in USA and have had good experience on several occasions for these Parker LE pens dealing with Tay who runs PensInAsia.com and where you see that he has pens like this listed....

These pens are listed on the UK Parker website so I don't think they are only for Asia. I reckon they started them off in Asia as a 'test market', given that fountain pens still sell well in that part of the world. Eventually they'll spread over to the USA given time.

Sure, they're still made in France.

Yes, the French really have the know-how to make wonderful fountain pens.

Excellent and thorough review. Thank you Freakman.

For anyone interested, prices on Amazon.fr have fallen quite a bit now - 40% off retail - so this is a really good time to buy.

I've bought two fountain pens: the Blue Chevron and the Ruthenium. :)

In the UK a mere £590, and up to £605 for the chiselled ruthenium finish.

Thanks for the review. It is an interesting finish. Too expensive to buy unseen or untried in the hand for me.

It goes beautifully with the Maki-e pens, but with its weigh, I don't think Parker have designed it as a pen to write for extended periods with.

Regards,

Richard.

Amazon.fr deliver to the UK - and I paid €886.50 for both pens including delivery, which is around £690 in total. It's still expensive but not excessively so given that these are the premier versions of a top of the range model. If you order from Amazon returns are very simple and straightforward, so I don't see what you have to lose.

Wow, thanks for the tip. It went from impossibly expensive to manageable now. Does Amazon.fr ship to the US?

They ship worldwide, like any other Amazon store.

Just saw these in Shanghai. OMG they are in the nosebleed territory, around $1500 USD. They are quite beautiful though, and very tempting. They feel very special, especially with the turned metal grip.

Thank you very much.

Such a comprehensive review.

I have waited for a metal Duofold for a long time. Glad that they came out.

I hope the prices come down on this pen because I think it is a wonderful looking piece of work. If it was available locally here in California, I would purchase it in a heart beat

A beautiful pen. I fell in love with the older style Duofold some years ago - something about their long history going back to 1921, their Art Deco styling - but the new style Prestige takes the pen to a new level. They are pretty expensive though. I am waiting for the same model to be delivered, and I am feeling pretty excited about it. Am I falling in love again?

~ This excellent review answered all of my questions.

The many clear photographs were especially helpful.

It looks like a very nice pen.

suuuuuuuuuuuper pretty, but the weight kills it. the heaviest pens I still genuinely like are the visconti homo sapiens and the mont blanc 149, around 30 grams is my limit.

Also, C/C needs to just go the way of the dodo in these high end pens. You either need a really special nib or at least a piston filler if you want to justify over $250.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)
