KRISHNA BRONZE LEAF

The review is simultaneously posted at my blog here : LINK

In Indian Fountain Pen industry or Circles, Dr. Sreekumar is quite known for his hand-turned fountain pens and almost 20 types of nib tuning. However recently he has shelved in to making fountain pen inks under the brand name of KRISHNA.

I am really happy to see someone in India has taken initiative to standup and make good quality and non standard color Inks.

These inks are sold for Rs. 100 (1.5 USD) each for 30 ml ink bottle plus shipping.

The inks that are being produced are currently limited to 28 nos. :

  1. GOLD RUSH
  2. MEADOW GREEN
  3. BLUE MAGIC
  4. AFTER DARK
  5. SAPPHIRE BLUE
  6. LAKE BLUE
  7. BRONZE LEAF
  8. ORANGE CRUSH
  9. AUTUMN
  10. SINDHOOR
  11. GLORY VINE
  12. DARK ROSE
  13. NJAVAL
  14. WILD CHERRY
  15. PURPLE
  16. PEACOCK
  17. YELLOW VALLEY
  18. MELLOW BLUE
  19. VIVID VIOLET
  20. ORCHARD LILY
  21. DARK CHOCOLATE
  22. COOL BREEZE
  23. SILENT NIGHT SKY
  24. FORGET ME NOT
  25. SKY BLUE
  26. GHAT GREEN
  27. PUMPKIN
  28. GIRL PINK

I would like to thank Dr. Sreekumar for sending me the samples and also for the effort that he has put in. I will be reviewing all one by one.

This review is about BRONZE LEAF ink from KRISHNA. And this is absolutely one of the top in my favourite ink category of Krishna Inks.

Krishna Ink – Bottle

Krishna Ink comes in amber coloured plastic bottles in 30 ml quantity and I have been told that the procurement for better quality plastic bottles or probably glass bottles is already under way. And I believe thats the right direction to move forward.

Krishna Bronze Leaf – Waterproof Test

Please ignore the certain black shades of lower part of drip test as there was certain ink spill. Kindly refer upper drip part.

As you can see from images from above, ink is not at all waterproof.

CONCLUSION:

I absolutely love this ink. And actually this is the only brown coloured ink produced in India. And I recommend all buyers to use this ink.

Following are the summation of ink properties:

  • Feathering : No
  • Sheen : No
  • Shading : Yes
  • Lubrication : Good
  • Flow : Good
  • Water Resistance : Bad
  • Drying Times : High
  • Nib Creep : No
  • Clogging : No

These look like very interesting inks. It's a shame the supplier only posts to India

he is sorting out the issue of bottles... and once that is done... he will start shipping internationally...

Excellent review. Thank you for presenting such interesting brand.

I hope Dr. Sreekumar will sort things out soon (international shipment) because I want NEED Bronze Leaf, Meadow Green, Dark Rose, Yellow Valley and Ghat Green. Probably Silent NIght too.

Can you tell me if these inks feel lubricated? AFter using mainly Sailor inks for some time I'm spoiled. I don't really care about water resistance, fading or bleedthrough but one property that is important for me is lubrication and ink smoothness.

Very nice color.

Looking forward to the ink's availability, especially Dark Chocolate and Yellow Valley. If possible, do let us know when international shipping begins.

Thank you for a very tempting new ink introduction. You have captured this ink in a most beguiling manner & it is most appreciated after the Sailor hiatus of late 2015. If you pass along the comments from members interested in international shipment you might ask if a larger bottle might also be an option. If shipping is as expensive from India as it is elsewhere it might be nice to order more than the 30 ml bottle.

Thank you VIS...

yes inks are lubricated... some are very well lubricated...i have yet to receive complete range...

As far as sailor inks are concerned I think they are better lubricated than any other brand...

This Bronze Leaf was amazing ... good flow... lovely lubrication... amazing shading....however unlike sailor inks it has no sheen

yes I think there are two options in the works... 2ml Sample vial, 30 ml and 50 ml...

Shipping is not that expensive... shipping liquid items from India is a problem... and that is what needs to be sorted out...

I like the looks of this! It seems really rich. I was thinking about what a great this would be to also draw with.

Thank you for the great review.

I hope he doesn't run into problems with the similarity of some of his ink names to those of other brands. This might not be a problem as long as he is selling only in India, but once he starts shipping internationally, there could be some confusion with inks named Orange Crush, Glory Vine, and Silent Night Sky.

I agree. Actually I prefer the more "Indian" names like Sindhoor, Njaval, Ghat Green. They sound beautiful, and all that cultural connotation they have...
