Experiences With Martemodena

Hi,

After seeing a review on "The Pen Habit" YouTube channel on the Delta Dolcevita, I was compelled to visit MarteModena.

 

I joined a couple of their auctions both of which I won, the first seems to have been a glitch or pricing error as I picked up a Nuova Galleria Fusion for £0! I completed the transaction out of curiosity and paid a total of only £14.81 for postage.

 

The payment was accepted, and I have heard nothing more. I have emailed and messaged through the site but still nothing.

 

Whilst I don't really expect them to honour the deal and be out of pocket, I would expect them to respond and / or arrange a refund.

 

Has anyone had successful comms with them? Are they normally responsive?

 

I am reluctant to carry out any future transaction with them if they simply do not communicate when things go a little wrong!

I have bought a number of pens from them, and always had good service. Emails have usually been answered within 24 hours, or thereabouts. How long has transpired since you heard nothing?

Transaction/payment was on the 19th, email sent on the 21st, and message through the website forms on the 22nd.

mostly great service, but there has been some emailing glitches for communications that I chalk up to the language barrier...

I have purchased 5 Delta's from them last year although not through the auction system. On one pen I had some questions and e-mails were always answered the same day. Shipping was always door to door within a week. On future Delta's, I always check them first.
I would advise to send another mail.

I recently purchased a Pelikan from them and think they're great. The only possible downside was they shipped using DHL who charged customs fees (I've never had USPS do this) but the shipping was really fast.

That is odd. I haven't purchased from them, but an inquiry about combined postage on ebay got a very speedy and friendly response. Darn it; lost both the auctions I was interested in.

After owning a Delta DV Oro Oversized pen for almost two years, reading the posts here about the excellent prices available from this company I was able to purchase a pen recently for about $20.00 more than the beginning Ebay opening price. The pen shipped the following day & was received despite a snag in customs in a week & was exactly as described & purchased at 75% less than it's MRSP. I couldn't ask for more than this from any company.

I would like to recommend Martemodena.

 

My first Delta, a beautiful Delta Vintage Amber, came via the eBay shop of Martemodena.

The next Deltas, Delta Dolcevita Stantuffo Oro - Delta Dolcevita Tech&Web EOL - Delta Israel 60, were purchased directly from the Martemodena online shop.

Sometimes the online shop offers remarkable discounts.

 

Communication with Martemodena works fine, the delivery time (within Europe - my experience) is very fast (e.g. placing order on Sunday, delivery on Tuesday).

I've sent two messages to them and both went unanswered. On the other hand, I won an auction for a MB 146 last Thursday and it was promptly shipped on Friday (but again, a question about the nib went unanswered). The pen arrived today and is waiting for me at work. So, pretty fast shipping. I'll see tomorrow how it turns out.

 

I just wish they didn't use DHL, since I've always had bad experiences with them. This time, the pen would have been here on Monday if weren't for the fact that DHL thinks that if it is a pen, then it must contain chemicals and a formal process to import chemicals must be initiated (and I'm not kidding). After very poor treatment by email, I decided to call DHL and got lucky that I managed to talk with someone sensible there that solved my problem.

Thanks for the responses, I thought an update was very much in order.

 

I have had a few successful email exchanges with the gentlemen at MarteModena, it seems like a few emails went missing at the start of our exchange, may be an issue with their webform comms on their webpage. None the less, they have very kindly agreed to honour the transactions, and I now eagerly await a couple of bargain pens!

 

Will post a review somewhere when they are received!

Just a quick update, the guys at MM have been fantastic to deal with, all prices honoured and they even threw in a leather case for the pens. I have received the Nuova Galleria, and they are waiting for stock before sending out the Dolce Vita.

 

Once that is received I will get up some reviews on my YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/DevonReviewer).

 

Needless to say I am very happy and excited about inking up some new pens!

I take this opportunity to express that my experiences with Martemodena have been superb. I have purchased several pens from them, mostly Delta (my Waterman Elegance is reserved for everyday use).

 

Please note that I ran into some issues on my side due to a sudden move, however, I received personal attention from them and made everything go smooth.

 

To me, the customs cost is more than compensated by the excellent pricing.

 

I have to discipline myself and not buy more than one pen a month. I just did my February 2016 purchase.

I'd like to add my experience last month. Based on the good reviews here, I purchased a Delta Papuasi (latest in the Indigeous People series) with fusion nib on their ebay site. Then pen arrived within a week via DHL in great condition. I am very happy with this purchase and I'll likely purchase again! I'm in NYC.

This is the first time I've heard about customs hold ups though.

You've had one good transaction with them. If you have problems with the next one, contacting them might be a better idea. Posting every issue here serves little purpose and seems unfair to a retailer who is known for excellent service and products.
