Some of those on the link are really cute (especially the cat ones).  But they are also listed as being "Out of Stock" or "Currently Unavailable".... :(

Wonderful to see you back on FPN!

Looking forward to see your beautiful creations.

Could you share the link to your video? Embedding was blocked in the U.S.

Can FPNers outside Singapore see the video?

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

  • 2 weeks later...

tried out some color combos to get a better assessment ....

DSCF0457.JPG.ed1b511b727eb337985ada9c92811958.JPG

Under electric lighting, so the colors don't look really true.

The Teal variant looks most appealing.

Its also a shade that's hard to identify.

Tried using Pantone to compare to identify.

I decided to name it Indigo Black.

All in all, they each are beautiful in their own right.

😁

☝️This was done sometime back.

( gosh! I just realized I haven't stitched this into a journal yet !!!!! )

So this one is the reverse - black background with red dragonflies .

There are many possible colour variations , i mean the spine accent , threads , flyleaves ...

So for this first attempt, just trying out some colour combos.

Here I wanted the dragonflies to stand out.

So i used a black spine and black threads to recede them into the background.

Allowing the red motifs to pop .

The spine accent is a black bookcloth , which is not only black but matte black , in contrast to the glossy black on the washi.

DSCF0516.JPG.2f870ff2f1e7258c142c83921105e849.JPG

As usual, the washi coversheet dives under the bookcloth spine accent.

So the bookcloth won't suffer from peeling away which is common in many such hardcover bindings you see in the local libraries.

These are better quality black cords from SLAM of ITALY.

I think its a nice contrast , the black against black ...

I think somethings wrong with my camera, the pics dont look sharp. blurry .

I think its the fungus growing inside which I cant reach to clean, without unscrewing the lens faceplate.

Hi TM. Can I have this one?

As part of the promised foursome. It's gorgeous. And it has the paper I love.

Sure. But do you want A5 size?

This one above is A6 (small).

Will also try out some other iterations & let you take a look first.

Thank you again

Both sizes are fine. I've enjoyed the A6 journals I got from you through the years... so, whatever you fancy. So, yes I want that first one.

and if your next experiment is an A5, that's fine too.

Thanks so much.

Will update you as I make progress.

Meanwhile, if you noticed, I have left out the elastic bookband.

They (the elasticity) don't last , and it becomes more of an eyesore, at least to me.

I wonder if you are okay without the usual elastic bookband ?

Yes, the bookband is actually something I hardly use when I write regularly in a notebook - it stays mostly open to the current page, so I can write as soon as the thought strikes me. It's only when I'm ready to shelve it that the bookband sees any use. But it's not a necessity - I also buy them without bookband, and those are fine, too. Plus if I stand them up I use bookends.

This one's a deep bluish green, teal , a bit hard to identify ....

I think this one is the most striking color variant of this series.

Deep turquoise is attractive but not loud.

Decided to name it Indigo Black taking the hint from Pantone.

I think its either Pantone 307 or 308.

I tried uploading to crosscheck using their comparison tool, it even said Pantone 307C

I dont know what the "c" means.  🤔

Anyone familiar and can help shed light ?

The colour combo is really nice.

The tombows are embossed.

some kind of latex material.

As in my first tryout, decided to let the washi stand out. And the other spines accents recede into the background.

I couldnt find the exact shade of indigo , or blue , or blue green....

Black was just too strong I felt.

Yes. This one's mine, too. I love an unidentifiable blue, and those embossed tombows, or dragonflies? - gorgeous. It will be a beautiful addition to my collection of small TMLee journals.

Okay, unless nr 5 turns out more exciting... this is the first one that didn't leap out to me. However, I can see it growing on me, in real life, so reserve it, too...😋

@TMLee -- Not wild about the "olive drab" one (it's a color I just can't stand) -- but the red accents do help a lot.   Those are a nice touch.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."
