Legacy Is In The House

Hi folks,

yes, money arrived and I already spend half of it on my super cute Sheaffer Legacy. I do not know if this pen is worth it, but the feeling in my hand is definitely the best among all the pens I have ever tried. So excited, so so so so much.

 

P.S.: since I have a new pen and a bunch of new inks, review is on its way...

I bought a blue and steel Legacy I used from someone here on the board and the nib is one of the smoothest I've ever put to paper. I like sterling pens, so I later treated myself to a smooth sterling Legacy I with a stub nib. Fantastic pens!

You made a good choice--and if you decide you don't like, just send it this way!

Last August I picked up one of Jim Rouse's Fantasy Legacies, and it is always at the ready for writing. Same great feel in my hand as my treasured PFMs, but with just a touch more weight. Great stuff.

I prefer the Legacy to the PFM. A Legacy is a substantial pen. The PFM... meh. Too lite and fiddly.

With no prior experience from either pen before purchasing them, I have to say: I like them both. There are times where I enjoy the lightness of the PFM, other times the heft of the Legacy. I believe this is known as a win-win.

Have both, like both but only if we are talking Legacy I (or 2).

 

Small preference (generally) for the PFM but the specific Legacy I I have is exceptional. NOS from Mottishaw & Co. and goodness it is stunning. Everyone who picks it ups is like, "hey. yeah. wow, where'd you get this? Let me know if you want to sell it"

 

But both my favorite PFM and Legacy make my top 5 and my top 10 is Sheaffer dominated including a very lovely Imperial XIZLWHATEVR Touchdown that I got from some outfit called Main Street Pens and a fist full of Triumph nibs, which I love, perhaps above all others.

Great choice I love the Legacy, as you say very smooth writers and they look great. I find that most of my Sheaffers from this sort of era (Balance II and Connaisseur) are smooth writers.

 

I feel these pens are greatly undervalued and for some reason don't seem popular with buyers I have sold a couple on ebay recently and they went for quite low prices (IMHO). Still holding onto a couple, but decided to sell off some of my pens, as since retiring I very rarely use them and have never been a collector that doesn't use his pens.

Thanks Andy... I will enjoy this pen very much. I like all of my pens (except of some crappy chinese ones), but this one is different. Since I took it in a pen shop, I felt in love with this pen. Smooth nib, beautiful design, perfect size..
