Quick pics on paper. The pen is missing its wrapper for inside the case. I think I will make a small pocket from chamois leather.

The ink mix was about 50:50. I quite like it so may do some more. The Green Olive is otherwise quite dry. It looks a little darker on my screen than on the paper.

The note above was written with the pen dipped once. I have now filled it with Waterman Purblu (or blurple as it is better known) and compared it with higher end pens from Lamy, Waterman and Dupont. The medium nib Aurora has a distinctive feel on paper. It is definitely not a buttery slide yet in no way is your writing impeded. Of the above pens only the Lamy Imporium had a just a little of the same characteristic and that may be its GvFC ink because I recall it as exceptionally smooth with Lamy ink. The others were silent gliders as they usually are.

I am reminded of my first writing with a Waterman 52 (I think it was), which to a lesser extent than the Aurora gave the same transporting sense of a suddenly silent room with no noise but the very faint scritch of a pen. I like it. It writes smoothly yet, there is a feel of the paper. I am pleased I bought it despite mostly avoiding hooded pens.

I bought myself a Visconti Homo Sapiens Dark Age for Christmas. My most expensive purchase to date, so I am both very anxious and excited. Delivery date says January 3. Hopefully it gets here Saturday, though. I've ordered stuff from Goulet before and it almost always gets here earlier than expected.

A Pilot VP Cherry Bamboo coming from Japan.

The price of this beauty was more than $100.00 less expensive than at any retailer I could find in the US.

I just ordered the most expensive pen I've ever purchased, a rose Visconti Venus for $149, which is the lowest price I've seen for that pen. All my other pens cost under $100, with most of them being quite inexpensive. I'm not a true collector; I just like using fountain pens. I'm generally more susceptible to cute, colorful, or unique inexpensive pens than to mid-level or higher pens.

I had almost bought a Venus about a year ago but resisted. My daughter gave me a stunning Anniversary Van Gogh for Christmas, and I like it so well I started nosing around to see what other Viscontis were out there. I found the Venus again, discounted, so I gave in.

As I've somehow managed to lose two pens from my purse, I dare not carry the Van Gogh. I may risk carrying the Venus, however, but inside a zip pocket or pen case. Also, if I count the in-less-than-perfect-condition vintage Parker 51 Demi, I'll now have enough "decent" pens for my granddaughters to someday have. Well, I really need one more, as I think my daughter might want the Anniversary Van Gogh she'd given me, to which she's certainly entitled. I can't see myself buying any additional pen even close to its price point. Anyway, the purse and the hand-me-down are my two excuses!

I have no other pen purchases planned at this time.

After much angsting and research, I've decided to use the Goulet Pens gift certificate that my husband gave me for Christmas to order my VERY FIRST GOLD NIB PEN: a Pilot Falcon.

SOooOOooOOooOOOooo EXCITED!!!!!!!!

I only just fell in love with fountain pens in October (because of a Lamy Safari that my husband bought me at Scriptus, and some Iroshizuku Yama-Guri ink), but have fallen very hard. Still fallling. My pens so far are mostly Lamy Safaris, Platinum Preppies and Kaweco Sports. One Noodler's Ahab which I still have yet to master.
