What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2016

When it was a rod, it ate four dozen inks every morning to help it get large.

Now it's a pen, it'll eat five dozen inks. It's roughly the size of a barge.

Oh what a pen, that Gaston's.

*dying of laughter* xD This is the best thing I've seen all day!

New arrivals: on saturday a Conklin Endura maroon/taupe with stub dropped in, last evening the DHL brought a Delta Dolce Vita with gold trim and a fine fusion nib. En route is still a Jinhao 159 with gold trim. Now I will stop buying for a while and see where the new Onoto's go.

Truly it has been a busy couple of days with my mailman. He wanted to see what a fountain pen looked like, so this gave me an opportunity to have a little chat and promote the wonders of FP writing.

Well, the third time's the charm, they say.

After getting sniped on Sunday night, :gaah: I bid on another Emerald Pearl Vac on Monday, then got outbid on it and I didn't want to go higher (but at least in that instance I could have chosen to increase my maximum bid -- sniping doesn't give you time to react). But then last night, after watching another listing for a couple of days, (and contacting the seller as to condition in the meantime), I took a chance, and now a 3rd Gen Emerald Pearl is wending it's way to me. Date code of 7 (photos were poor, so don't know if there are any dots, and the seller listed it as ca. 1930s -- yeah right, in your dreams, bub). A bit nervous as to the nib condition (again, those horrid photos). But it went for less than the one on Monday night, and a fair bit under my maximum (and only a few bucks over my minimum bid, at that). So, fingers and toes crossed that the nib is not complete junk. Seller said there are no chips or major scratches; but one of the negative feedback reviews was from someone who ordered a cut glass decanter that was said to have been in "EXCELLENT" condition and it had a chip, and the seller's response was "Stuff happens...." So we'll see. [Mind you, you have to wonder a bit about buying something fragile like glass over the Internet... but it may *also* mean the seller does crappy packaging....]

Waiting for a Waterman Le Man 100.

That's a nice pen and one of the first I coveted. I ended up getting the Opera, which started my present collection.

Well the pen arrived. It's going back. :( The nib is in much worse shape than I could tell from the sellers's photos. The seller had offered a refund including shipping, so tomorrow it gets sealed up and taken back over to the post office.

So the hunt for an Emerald Pearl Vac for a decent price resumes. And in the meantime I now have a long list of repair and nib repair people (especially for Vacs).

In the seller's defense, I will say that it was packed well, and shipped quickly.

Still waiting for my Vac Mini and Botanica; as they were bunched together with the 580AL Green, I won't get any of them until early March. I got the shopping twitch when I saw that La Couronne had the Pelikan Stola III. It would be my first Pelikan, and a pen that I have had my eye on since it was first announced. Ruth, it's frustrating that eBay sellers don't take better pictures. They're making a living selling things, yet do not want to invest in an inexpensive modern camera (well under $100).

The blue Estie transitional I'm anxiously awaiting still isn't here. :( It was "out for delivery" on Tuesday, wasn't delivered and is now "delivery status not updated." Argh!

Ruth, sorry about your Emerald Pearl.
