What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2016

I am waiting for a small raw leather case (in brown) that protects the exposed threads on the Kaweco Lilliput's barrel & stops the tiny pen from rolling around. Managed to snag the last one @ Wonderpens (no affiliation).

My ink arrived (from the UK - it was sent on November 30th. Has the Royal Mail finally figured out how to teleport things or what?), but they sent me an 80ml bottle instead of the 30ml I ordered. Not that I'd mind, but my conscience tells me that I better go and get that sorted out.

The pens, according to the tracking number, departed from Shanghai Intl. Airport (which one it didn't say) today, which sounds rather promising.

I do love it when stuff from China is sent with a tracking number - it always doubles as a geography lesson. I actually got sidetracked looking up the place they were sent from and the distance they've covered so far via Google Street View, then ended up on Wikipedia... and then the afternoon was suddenly over.

Last year, I've been tracking my Kaigelu travelling from Guanzhou to Beijing and back. When it reached Shanghai, I suddenly started to get tracking notes from the future, in three days' advance. By the time it finally arrived to my local PO, I've been thinking of it as of something totally unreal, Sci-Fi ;) But it's here, rarely leaving the rotation, as real as a Chinese kangaroo can be.

Practice, patience, perseverance

Also, those that'll get home:

Also, inks!

Yeah, the China Post does some interesting things with tracking numbers sometimes.

Haven't had my things time travel yet, though - that's a new one.

Pelikan M800 green M. Having a GvFC (yet to arrive), three Lamy and a Montblanc, I may as well round out the major German brands to see which ones I like best. So far, it is Lamy 1st, Montblanc last (it's a style thing).

I'm expecting a Jinhao x750 from iPenBox to arrive in a day or two.

I'm hoping Santa brings me a Pelkan M805 in Vibrant Blue, but that's a long shot.

Next month, I'll probably be looking for another pen on my dream list. I'm narrowing the list down between a Sheaffer Snorkel, Franklin Christoph 02 Ice and a Sailor 1911. I'm leaning toward the FC.

Decisions, decisions...

There's a Pelikan M800 Red Stripe in flight from Germany. I'd been looking for a red version (discontinued for awhile now) and found one that looked great. This will be my one "elegant" pen.

Retired, twice. Time to do more things, writing being one.

It's available in the green and blue stripe but not the red, sadly.

Sheaffer 1996 Holiday Holly ballpoint. Garish, but I have the NOS fountain pen already.

Black Esterbrook J Master Point "General Writing/Firm Medium/9668

I know its probably as boring as all heck but I don't have an Estie and the price was right for that nib from what I've read. Seems like most of the price for an Esterbrook lies in the nib.

Inked: Aurora Optima EF (Pelikan Tanzanite); Franklin Christoph Pocket 20 Needlepoint (Sailor Kiwa Guro); Sheaffers PFM I Reporter/Fine (Diamine Oxblood); Franklin Christoph 02 Medium Stub (Aurora Black); Platinum Plaisir Gunmetal EF (Platinum Brown); Platinum Preppy M (Platinum Blue-Black). Leaded: Palomino Blackwing 602; Lamy Scribble 0.7 (Pentel Ain Stein 2B); Uni Kuru Toga Roulette 0.5 (Uni Kuru Toga HB); Parker 51 Plum 0.9 (Pilot Neox HB)

Congrats. They may be garish, but they're fun. :)

Just ordered two Lamy Safaris from The Writing Desk to my wife for Christmas, one green 1.1 and one white 1.9.

She has been talking about starting with calligraphy. Thought I would help her to start...
