I'm waiting for 2 pens right now. Both both from the here well known vendor Dutchpen. One of them is a Parker 45 in F; CF, and in burgundy (body and cap). It is going to be a gift for the holidays.

Then, of course, while I was at it, I got myself a little goodie. A Parker 17 (believe it to be the later 'Deluxe' variant) in XF and in black.

Now, of course I'm happy about these, but I really want to talk about something else.

I also bought myself my first ever mechanical pocket watch. (that's how you know you're deep down the rabbit hole) Here's a photo from the vendor's listing

il_570xN.1046337928_q7je.jpg

It's a watch made by (in Engl.) 'Molnija' in the old mysterious USSR, from the case (not pictured in detail) it can furthermore be deduced that this particular one was a factory order for a jeweler in Istanbul, and that the watch (according to the one comprehensive online resource I found on these) was made in the 1970s or early 80s. According to my own research, this watch sports a few aesthetic features that are not too common.

It's also nice to imagine that the watch very well might be a seasoned traveler; from a factory in Russia (close to Kazakhstan), to Turkey, in Turkey hopefully in the service of the Railway administration, then around to the Ukraine from where I bought it, thus to SE Asia to be carried around by me (with whom more air travel shall commence)

Super stoked! :D

Oh, that one very comprehensive guide to these watches, that I mentioned (no afiliaton), can be found here http://linuxfocus.org/~guido/molnija-pocket-watch/

It has lots of info. and pictures.

Now I just need to wait 10 days, 2 weeks, 3 weeks to actually, in fact receive it. (My little, run-of-the-mill Casio will be surprised, too.

I hope my little expression of joy about something that is distinctly not a pen isn't to far out of line here.

Hope you'll get a nice and reliable Lightning Watch ("Molniya" means "lightning" in Russian). Late examples, of 1990s vintage, are (in)famous for their lack of precision.

Practice, patience, perseverance

Two Jiffies!!! Black with light blue section/clip and dark blue with pink/purple section/clip. And a JIF, blue with black cats chasing white mice design.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Yes, I would hope so. The mentioned online resource also mentioned this thing, that in the 1990s and up to the naughts the quality declined a lot. One could theorize that it must have something to do with the USSR dissolving in 1991, but who knows.

Anyway, thank you for your input.

waiting for this new in box Omas Paragon (actual eBay photo). I've written with Omas pens & nibs for twenty+ years, just the best. and with the Comapny having gone in liquidation last January these pens will become more and more difficult to find in new or like-new condition.

Such a shame such a fantastic brand with beautiful pens is gone.

Hope somehow it will come back.

I'm waiting on a Jinhao 9009 that I won for $1.50 plus free shipping on eBay, and a Lamy Al-Star in graphite.

The Jinhao 9009 reminds me of my Hero 91.fpn_1476165992__hero91.jpg
