What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2016

Hello,

I ordered my first Pilot VP. Or as it is better known here the Pilot Capless. It's fairly hard to lay your hands on one here in Austria. Most shops don't carry them and if they do it is usually around 300 for the cheapest ones. I found a Matte black one from Spain for 180 with free shipping and a Medium sized nib. I'm thrilled!

Congratulations on sourcing the Matte Black VP. I'm sure you'll love it...I'd personally give it classic status.

Got a Franklin-Christoph Model 45 XLV in this really cool Coco Pearl colorway I noticed when I was browsing through. I have an extra Masuyama from my Model 19 (which now has a Needlepoint), so for $100 I couldn't imagine this being a bad move. It's on my doorstep at home waiting for me!

Slightly disturbing, one of two pens I won and paid three days ago has yet to ship. There has been no message from the seller about it. The seller has a 99.9% record after more than a decade on ebay so I hope for a satisfactory reply to my enquiry today.

The US Postal Service has managed to lose track of my Montblanc Rouge et Noir 1906 Heritage Ebonite pen with an OB nib, which was shipped from an authorized dealer in the Netherlands almost a month ago, and has not been seen since it left the Chicago post office on July 28. I've filed a request for a search for it, but I'm not very optimistic.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Congrats!

This Coco Pearl is becoming quite popular :) I want to get one - with a Medium CI nib probably.

Pen in rotation is Ranga Model 8 one of my most ergonomic pen and this one is in premium yellow black swirl ebonite. And it is inked with J.Herbin Lie De The. This ink has become my favourite brown ink.

Uh-oh. If they are like ours, which they probably are, then finding what they have lost is not a feature of their performance. Having travailed with the USPS with a fortunate outcome (they never quite managed to lose it entirely) I offer both sympathy fwiw, and my best wishes for a good result.

For me, the news is more satisfactory than before. Shipping has been advised now and, after a further check, I have a tracking number. After delivery expected in a couple of weeks I am now trusting I will be able to support the seller's reputation, as he already has mine.

We is being robbed! :crybaby:

Look forward to seeing those Onotos!

Here are two of them which arrived today.

The BHR pen is a 3000 from 1922 or a bit later. Apparently the gold bands were not offered until then. It is unlabelled apart from the usual Onoto The Pen and De La Rue Co London. The nib is a 3/ST which also became available around 1922.

The gold band which I thought aftermarket is hallmarked DLR. You can see it but not read it in the photo. There is unfortunately a crack in the section near the nib. I am hoping it does not leak nor get worse. The pen has been overhauled, with new seals so it should be OK.

This is the 1332, around which there is a little story. At the same time this pen was on, there was another 1332 in a pretty green spiral marble. It sold for nearly £150, that being a little more than my maximum bid. I tend to set my maximum so I will be equally [dis]satisfied whether I win at my maximum or lose for a dollar more. At the same time, I bought this pen for £79. Mark me happy.

The cap and barrel are translucent as you can see in the next two photos.

In the second, you can see the shadow of the lever bar. The seller thoughtfully fitted a translucent silicone sac so you can see how much ink remains. However, nowhere on the pen does the word "Onoto" appear. It is "The De La Rue Pen" with a "Warranted 14K De La Rue 22" nib. The model, 1332 appears on the barrel cap with C3 on the other side, whatever the import of that marking.

Edited to update after more research on the 3000/2000 models.

Another Craftsman TD tip dip set on the way, in burgundy.

And a Snorkel. Finally! Yay! Also a pen/pencil set, in black, an Admiral judging from the photos.

But, as excited as I am by that, the real prize is a Touchdown Admiral in Evergreen Green.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Two excellent looking pens, praxim. The 3000 being nicely understated, and the 1332 an attention grabber. Great little story too. Conratulations on these pens Onoto or otherwise.
