What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2016

Hmm, interesting and a little disturbing. I ordered two pens from USA a week ago. For a little while they have been in transit; nothing unusual in that. Checking tracking data again just now, I find they are in Austria, which strikes me as the long way to go from America to Australia, and a common mistake for people to make if they look carelessly or are a little short on their geography studies. This is the shipper doing this, not the seller who had all the correct address elements in to enable me to be found, and with signature required as well as tracking.

Well, for now I will hope they are taking the pens on a tour before safely finding the correct hemisphere on the planet then improving address resolution from there.

Your shipper is not the only one confused. Earlier in his term of office, our President stated that Austrians speak the "Austrian language." He has been disabused of that notion, and now is aware that Australians speak Austrian.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

When you're waiting on a pen and find out that Two-Day Priority really means, "sometime in the next five mailing days."

Sigh....

My fingers are always inky and I'm always looking for something new.  Interested in trading?  Contact me!

They have gone west, to Flushing, NY.

Maybe they know more than their colleagues in Jamaica, NY, I trust.

Oh my God! This waiting is killing me. 4-5 weeks and I'm barely at one week down. Why didn't I order this Wahl Eversharp Deco Band a month ago? I joke, but I really can't wait to have this beauty in my hand. I have not seen my new office but the box will be a nice accessory for my new desk. I doubt it will be as nice as my executive desk in my old office.

Despite buying it way after the other pens I am waiting for- my Pilot Prera Clear Body in Pink came in today. Mostly going to be used for drawing purposes but I love how small it is!

One down, still waiting for my Decimo and my Leocule.

Well ... ! My M150 made it from Germany to NY in good time but has made a detour to the Post Office in Puerto Rico over the holiday week-end. Guess I'll get more tracking info on Tuesday.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

It seems like your pen is on a trip around the world!

Only USA to Puerto Rico? Hah! :)

Having done the Grand Tour to Austria from America, my pens find themselves back in Jamaica NY via Flushing and eight days after they left the same place.

Now they will be flying again, but once again I won't know to which country until they land. I count another ten starting with 'A' after the one they have tried and excluding where it is supposed to be....

Thanks, I have confidence in the original shipper, who is a member of FPN.

I hope the M150 will be in good shape after sun and weed. :)

Oh no, this is getting ridiculous. The pens have now landed in Ireland, still the wrong way.

Dear USPS,

If you look on the map here, Australia is the purple bit over on the right. To get there, if you are standing in the green bit facing North, turn left, and then a bit more. Turning right is the wrong way to go.

You can't miss us, really, we are one of the world's six continents and quite a warm, pleasant place where English is spoken. The bigger one to our South is pretty cold and the other bits are not Australia, no matter how hard you try.

Good luck

Latest note from USPS tracking:

Attempted Delivery - Scheduled for another delivery attempt today

Ireland

The raving dingbats are attempting to deliver to some unknown place in Ireland. The seller (bless him) is trying to deal with USPS in the USA to help them, and so far meeting some sort of indifferent stonewalling as if they could not be wrong. I shall see how he has fared today, and am writing myself not that there is any obvious target they disclose until you want to complain after they have already lost it.

Fingers crossed for you. Your pen is certainly on an Odyssey!

Thanks Christina

I have found USPS publishes only toll-free numbers (which are not accessible outside the USA) while the e-mail address from which they notified shipment does not accept replies. Their web site e-mail for problems is a web form which assumes the recipient lives in the USA and has required fields not compatible with living elsewhere. Completing it in some contorted way would most probably add to the confusion.

Looks like I have to leave it to Bill now.

Ah yes, the joys of the United States Postal Service. I actually am loathe to use the website. Hopefully the sender will be able to follow up via phone or the site on your behalf. I imagine it's very frustrating for you! Your pen is on a trip round the world and it seems to be pinging ever country but the one it should be headed to! Hopefully the situation resolves itself or the post realizes they are way off the mark and shoot the darn thing back your way. Keep us posted!

The M150 made it to Fla on Monday, then departed there for parts unknown (no updates since then).

The Go!, on the other hand, arrived in my town on Sat but, according to USPS, there was no apartment # on the label so they just threw in the undeliverable bin and it's now on its way back to Germany.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Were you sent a copy of the shipping label at any point for the Go!?

Perhaps your pens and mine could meet in Hawaii and write us postcards about it.
