An Esterbrook J

A collection of Jinhao pens - 599a / X450 and a Boaer 79 starwalker pen.

Basically I've spent too much cash over the last month on pens so I thought why not try a few Chinese pens and at the price they sell at, why not :D

A Montblanc 146...my first Montblanc! Probably my only Montblanc for the forseeable future, for that matter.

Went deeper into the Chinese pen wabbit hole and picked up a Jinhao X750 as I don't have that model and it's supposed to be a 'step up' from the 450 (slightly larger, Jinhao engraving, different grip).

Got the 'Chessboard' model which set me back $3 w/ free shipping:

My first 'nice' Pelikan - Tradition M150 in Red-Black from 1980's. Seller said specify nib after making purchase;

I sent message requesting Fine but only got shipping confirmation, no reply to nib request, so we'll see what shows up.

Hmm ... Oxblood, maybe?

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I'd be very interested in your experience with that!

I have a bunch of 450's, which I quite like, and wanted to somehow crawl out of the Chinese pen rabbit hole now, but if the 750's really that good..

Nice pen! Seeing a red pen looking that elegant is always nice.

You could also go dark blue or blue-black for some extra color contrast, although Oxblood has the nicest color and if I could actually get my hands on that for less than an absolute fortune, I'd probably ink all my pens with that.

Still waiting for a Jinhao x450. Ordered it in early April, didn't arrive so far. If it does, I'll probably give it to my good friend who just got (back) into fountain pens, because I have entirely too many Jinhaos by now and as much as I appreciate Jinhao 159's, if she keeps writing with hers and much as she normally does with BPs, I fear for her hands.

*phew* okay, you can add a Dolcevita Federico in "Sand" to that, thanks to the Bay of Evil. Wasn't my first color choice, originally, but Arabian Nights was too expensive, and I got outbid on Hell's Bells, which was a shame, but Sand was pretty high up the list anyway (I'm a sucker for white pens) and, hey, 42€. That's fine by me.

Pretty and pink are often two of my requisites when I am pen shopping

That Dolcevita Federico in Sand (with Rhodium trims) I got on ebay, mostly. I'm quite eagerly waiting for that one, because it was one of those pens I'd never thought I'd own. My pen budged doesn't really stretch to the full market price of that one, unless it is the most extraordinary pen ever. Or possibly one of those really nice Waterman. Which... may coincide, actually.

Unfortunately, it's technically not in the mail yet, but still sitting in Modena. Ah well, I'll use that time to ponder what ink to get for it. I'm thinking Diamine Raw Sienna. Would give me an opportunity to order Oxblood as well.

Also, that one stubborn Jinhao x450 that's apparently been lost in the mail (ordered in early April) has now officially been re-sent. Sigh.

You'll see it very soon (Monday) if your experience is anything like mine was. My shipment went from Bologna (Italy) to Germany (day one) then passed through customs and was shipped to Ohio (US) (day 2) where it went through customs and was delivered in early afternoon (day 3) to my doorstep!

Gosh, I hope!

Don't think they'll quite make that, though. They didn't send it out yet, the description stated that sending the thing might take up to 7 days and I'd be very surprised if the delivery as such takes two days or less.

The estimated delivery date says June 1st at the earliest - I'd say I'm very lucky if it arrives before May 27th.

At least customs is a non-issue for me. I knew living in the EU was good for something.

On the other hand, maybe they took Scotty's favorite tactic to heart and multiplied the delivery date by four to seem like miracle workers... :D

Indeed - I think that may be the case. The estimated delivery for my pen was May 23rd through May 26 and I got it on May 18th. And I was quite a bit farther away. Under-promise and over-deliver!
