In order to appreciate the sweet, you must truly taste the bitter....

Purchased two unidentified Montblancs (my first ones!) at a rummage sale yesterday -- $1.25.

One appears to be a Noblesse and the other a 320P or something like that. Both write great.

What a deal! Congratulations on your treasured finds. Can you share photos with us? 😎

Posted here. I'm not totally sure they're legit, but they seem to be and write quite nicely! (And now all my coworkers think I'm fancy)

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally had the opportunity today to unwrap one of my birthday presents (three weeks after the fact): a black Heritage 1914 with OBB nib, along with a Collection Box, thanks to my friends at La Couronne du Comte. This is a gigantic pen, and very heavy, although a lot of the weight is in the cap, which is not designed to be posted. The nib is stunning, as is the whole pen, really--it makes the 149 feel rather flimsy by comparison. The Collection Box is equally substantial. I haven't written with the pen yet, but so far I would have to say that these items have a solidity and quality that can only enhance Montblanc's reputation. Hope to have photos soon.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Congrats on your 1914. I think it is a great pen, though very heavy. It reminded me of a maglite flashlight. You even got the nib I would have selected. If you get tired of it, look me up. :)

Enjoy staring at that beautiful MOP star on the cap.

Andy Warhol FP, 2 Sheaffer cartridge pouches and golden yellow ink.

I had no idea cartridge pouches existed. New discoveries like this is why I've come to love forum sites. I'm fairly new to becoming an active FPN member. Starting to check FPN more often than FB these days!

Compared alongside my never-not-inked 146.

I'm not sure which I prefer more...... Your pens or your sketches....!

The pens are gorgeous, but nah....... The Oscar goes to your sketches...!!!!

Cheers

Michael - always a pleasure reviewing your posts! The attached link takes us to a super article on this pen and its siblings. I also love the #4 you've chosen to display for comparison purposes. You're extremely lucky with this find....! I never knew that MB had an eight sided pen before. The closest I got to it was my Proust. They should do a re launch of the ones you've shown....! Hope you locate a nib for the #6! Edited by Sharookh

Thanks! Funny thing is, I don't really sketch with Montblancs, its usually one of two Pelikans with tweaked nibs or Rotring Isographs.

After buying my 90 year 149 last week at a very good price in Cape Town, I decided I needed to make the most of the favourable exchange rate so picked up this second hand Mozart for half the UK eBay price. Photographed alongside my 'other' 149, an early 80s French market Fine. It's a shame I have to leave soon...

In the mail today: a 50s Mb 264 with a surprise OBB nib. That's the nib size I was after but the seller wasn't sure of the size. Very lucky purchase! It lays down a very wet line.
