What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase? 2016

My father passed away a few month ago and yesterday, out of the blue, I got a letter from the Army saying that he had an automatic life insurance policy and that I was one of the beneficiaries. Included was a check.

Traveling for his funeral had run up some expenses so at first I thought I'd just apply it toward the balance on my credit card. However, I decided to buy something rather special, something I would never sell, something that would ultimately be the last gift from my father. I went ahead and pulled the trigger today on my first Writer's Edition, a Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Lovely sentiments expressed and a great way to remember a lost loved one. I did thr same with my father when he passed away - bought a pen to use and remind me of him specifically. Not a MB, but the same lovely idea. Thank you for sharing.

Picked up the Montblanc M fountain pen in F-size nib and really, really like it. Something about the balance of the pen or the weight of it makes writing with it a lot of fun compared to the Meisterstuck 90th LeGrand in M. And just this week I was lamenting how I missed out on the Writer's Edition F Scott Fitzgerald, who is really the only stand out author for me personally amongst all the different editions Montblanc makes and the ladies at the Toronto boutique actually had one in the back unopened in F. Really pretty pen and I am constantly catching myself staring at it at my home office desk. Will post pictures after I get around to taking some!

Is it known if the M will become a staple of the Montblanc lineup or should I buy another one as a backup?

Thanks.

Congratulations! That's quite a collection, already.

As far as I know (from conversation with boutique staff) the M is a permanent addition to the range.

Enjoy.

A fine pen to remember your father by. Enjoy using it.

Thanks! I actually came upon fountain pens through their watches. My first pen was a Starwalker fineliner and then the Meisterstuck 90th Classique ballpoint. I remember scoffing at the boutique staff when she asked if I wanted to consider fountain pens. This was only 2 years ago!

I regret to report that my Heritage 1906 ebonite with OB nib was stolen on its way to me. It was shipped by La Couronne du Comte about a month ago. US Customs inspected the package, which was lost to tracking until a few days ago. The empty box was delivered yesterday. Please be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell one of these--the dealer tells me that this was the only 1906 ebonite with an OB nib. Unfortunately, no record was made of the serial number. The shipment was insured, and the dealer is getting me a replacement pen, but it would be nice to bring the thieves to justice.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Very sorry to hear of the theft! That's superb of the dealer to replace it for you, but if only it hadn't happened in the first place. Unfortunately thieves and dishonest people are everywhere and misuse the responsibility and trust given to them. I will definitely keep a look out in case one turns up. eBay and Craiglist seem to be a good start.

Never pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel.

I have encountered lost parcels before, but never an empty box :(

Picked this up yesterday thought to share it with you :)

A few observations so far:

- It is proper heavy! Possibly the heaviest Montblanc I have come across.

- It has no ink window. I consider this a good thing, no fear of staining from permanent inks.

- It refracts light in the most peculiar artistic fashion. You can see pinks, greens, reds and blues shimmer on the body in sunlight.

Excellent pen, Pravda. Did you get two pens one gold and one silver, or it's just the lighting?

Same pen, just one was taken in the evening and then I thought it didn't look right so I took another in the daytime.
