My franken-146 arrived. Pretty clean shape too, though I ended up tearing down and then reassembling the whole thing to seal a leak I couldn't find at first.

Bought a 1980s 149 off a fellow Redditor on /r/Pen_Swap. Very excited for the purportedly flexible EF nib (just finished cleaning it - drying now).

Happened to stumble across this beautiful NOS Boheme Big Size, been in the store at least 6 years and I managed to negotiate a very reasonable price.

It being 'new' with service book etc, should I expect any problems obtaining a nib exchange?

New to me is a 1980s vintage 149 which I especially like to use in the course of my duties as an elected official of my town.

Looks like 1960s or 1970s as I guessed in the other thread. By the mid to late 1970s they were using 2 tone nibs, first marked 14C then 14K in the 1980s. Edited by zaddick

Awesome find. If it was from an AD and stamped or you have the receipt, you should be able to do a nib exchange if the pen is uninked. If not from an AD ot boutique, I imagine they will charge you.

It was from an AD and the book has been stamped and dated. Nib is uninked, still with clear demo cartridge inserted.

You should be 100% fine and if they try to say no I would kick up a bit of a stink. My only concern is I am not sure if they used that nib on other pens so they may not have the full range of sizes left and it may need to go back to Hamburg.

What size did you want?

It's rare for me to buy a 'new' pen so I'm more excited about the opportunity to exchange. I don't actually know if I want a fine (though I already have a fine 149 and M800) a broad (for stubbishness alongside my 149 90 BB) or will be happy enough with this slightly springy medium.

It kind of depends on what I am ultimately going to use it for, at work most of our paper feathers so have to use a fine (M800 is my workhorse here - sorry 146) but as I already have that covered I could go for broad as this is the only size missing from my collection.

But, I don't want to send it off and it be gone for months as they don't have a nib, also I want to ink it now and play!! I already have a Medium Dumas but find it too blingy for regular use, maybe the Boheme Big Size (LeGrand?) should replace that pen as it is...

I believe the big boheme takes the same #6 sized nib as all the 146 based pens. It won't be too hard to find a replacement nib at the factory.

They are #6 but are monotone in colour and 18K. No problem, I gave in to temptation this afternoon and inked her up. A bit dry but expect this as not able to squeeze any ink through like a piston, hopefully in a few days it will improve. Lovely to write with, somewhere between a 146 and 149 in size (unposted).

Just purchased the Amethyst Purple ballpoint refill in M size, pretty nice shade of purple.

I got these a few days ago. the first is a fifties MB 215 clip-lever ballpoint pen, the next is a MB 274 pencil, also from the fifties, and finally an old danish MB 214 from around 1955-1959 with a Ef nib.

Just bought the Andy Warhol Fountain pen. Obviously, it does not sell very well. I don't understand why. Beautiful pen.

I believe you still can do a nib exchange after inking the pen. Otherwise how would you know if the pen writes to your style, right? Yes, It does have the rhodium plated 18k nib. Many of the le grand solitaire pens use the same rhodium plated 18k nib. So I believe your option is still wide open.

Anyway, I just popped a cartridge in my XL boheme after reading your post. It's a great pen to write with. Enjoy it in good health.

Just got another Montblanc 214, this time it´s a coral red one, with a matching pencil.

They are in very good shape, and all that was needed was some cleaning and a new sac in the FP.

My father passed away a few month ago and yesterday, out of the blue, I got a letter from the Army saying that he had an automatic life insurance policy and that I was one of the beneficiaries. Included was a check.

Traveling for his funeral had run up some expenses so at first I thought I'd just apply it toward the balance on my credit card. However, I decided to buy something rather special, something I would never sell, something that would ultimately be the last gift from my father. I went ahead and pulled the trigger today on my first Writer's Edition, a Fyodor Dostoevsky.
