Completed a trade on the pen swap subreddit, my 90 Year Anniversary 146 for a 1990s 149 (plus a bit of cash - sadly the cosmetic state is not what I had hoped but the way the pen writes more than makes up for it).

I FINALLY got one!

I know it's not a FP, but... I've been looking for a decently priced Agatha BP for ages. Finally found one, and snagged it. It arrived yesterday, I dropped a black B refill in, and it's been love ever since. I haven't even bothered to polish the clip, etc., as I rather like the tarnished look...

"Here was a man who had said, with his wan smile, that once he realized that he would never be a protagonist, he decided to become, instead, an intelligent spectator, for there was no point in writing without serious motivation." - Casaubon referring to Belbo, Foucault's Pendulum.

MB Fine Stationary Notepad #146 Shakespeare lined = £55

MB Shakespeare Ink = £14

MB JFK Ink

MB Golden Yellow Ink

I was told that the yellow lining my notepad has is a limited edition yellow which is limited to only Selfridges. I guess this means that other shops will have different colours.

Ink

Could you please post a written sample? :) I have booked one bottle, but I am not sure if I like the colour. I have seen only two pictures - a mini review by a fellow FPNer (it looked like a dusty brick red there, I liked it a lot) and a swab, in which it looked more vibrant and light.

I have noticed that as well after I did the mini-review. It is dark blood red on photocopy paper, Moleskine and Paperblanks. It is brighter on Rhodia, i.e. ink resistant paper.

So I guess you can tell what to expect based on the paper you use. Papers that absorb ink well, it'll be dark.

Here you go... And some inks to compare. I can't figure out how to orientate the photos right side up on my iPhone

I'm sorry I didn't remember it was you who posted the review, I had your username on the tip of my tongue :) I usually use good quality paper, and it is seldom well absorbent. I'd really love to have an ink looking like Velvet Red in your review. The 'other' Velvet Red seems to be too bright and too red for me.

Thank you so so much! It is really helpful.

After a wait of over 2 months, a bottle of Golden Yellow arrived in the post on Friday :-)

Apparently there were some quality issues with the first batch.

If you edit the picture on your phone, rotate it 360 degrees then save it again, it will post the right way up.

A very nice MB 149 from around 1985-1990 era. It has a great 14k Fine nib with a bit of flex to it. Image is from the seller I bought it from here on the classifieds. A true gentleman and great to deal with

Congrats bjmoose, looks good, i also just got an 149 EF or F from ebay to replace one i gave away, so back to 3 149s for me, seller said it only wrote with a lot of pressure, figured it was baby bottoms or too tight tines, turned out it was too tight, brass shim later and it writes just fine ;), and because the seller disclosed the issue it was relatively cheap, I guess it's also from the 80s-90s period like bjmoose, this one's a bit stiff though.
