M600 red-black - it took me awhile to accept a red pen, but after the Aurora Optima burgundy, this is one of my nicest. Along with the Burnt Orange, I'm feeling quite buddhist today. The nib is very good, thanks to Rolf Thiel.

Very Nice!

I'm surprised we have only seen a few shots of the new 800 Grand Place, so I thought I'd add my feeble I Phone attempts.

The thing I am most excited about is that this one has an Italic nib - my first try at this nib from Pelikan. It writes superbly. Fortunately for me, it is not real crisp like Aurora and I have not problem writing with it. Very nice change of Pelikan pace for me!

Now, on to the Vibrant Blue!

Congratulations on a beautiful pen and a fantastic nib. Did you get it from John?

No, I have found that on new Pelikans, the price from Italy is far lower. I buy them from Novelli. Marco's service is superb. Note that it is a factory Italic nib.

I recently ordered a Stola III fountain pen, which also seems to go by the model number P16, so I'm waiting on that. My other less-expensive Pelikan, the Pharo, doesn't seem to write very well now for whatever reason, so I was thinking about what could replace it. When I read about the Stola III and saw that it was in a similar price range, I thought it would be a good choice.

I finally got the M205 green duo I had thought of getting for about two years. I could never bring myself to pay that much for plastic (though the Souverans are essentially plastic there is more work that goes into them).

I also stumbled upon a grey-striped 400--a pen I had on my maybe wishlist for this year, due to its rarity--it may have been Soot's originally. I've admired his tortoise collection, so am happy to add one of his to my own collection--if that is the case!

Fun fact: I discovered th 'R' designation on the pen is the right foot oblique for lefties. A broader nib than I'm used to but the line variation makes it usable.

Decided to take my cursive italic handwriting a lot more serious with this M800. Already had an M800 with EF nib (mostly for notes at work, journaling at home), and now a formal italic has joined the flock.

I'm really liking the Burnt Orange more and more. Nice picture and handwriting!

Thank you! It is my first custom-ground nib and I was quite nervous about getting it right. Found it hard to judge how much writing pressure I use, how much ink flow I wanted, how wide the nib should be. However, the folks at nibs.com are very helpful and we got it just right, I think.

Anyway, my pen is a 1.0 mm crisp formal italic optimized for right-handed writing with light writing pressure and light-to-medium inkflow.

the results speak volumes. All this carping about the cost of Pelikans going up, but seeing how well the custom worked nib serves you it is clear that there are times when paying the premium is worth I. As a satisfied customer of the work of Mr. Motishaw I can assure you that your pen is likely to serve you well for years with out any further need of work.

There is however a serious down side to this 'discovery' you have made. If you are at all like me (and probably many others) you will somehow find a way to be able to afford additional custom nib modifications by a master. Work like this turns a very nice pen into an incredible piece of working art.

Just bought a Pelikan M805 Demonstrator with BB nib. I think it looks great, very classy and substantial. I chose it over the 805 Stresemann which I have managed to avoid buying since it came out, but fear it may be added to my collection in the not too distant future.

As soon as I start seeing it labeled "limited stock" on websites, I'll probably grab one.

Apologies for crappy iPhone pic...

My latest was almost the M205 Blue Demo reuissue that Fritz Schimpf announced on FPN today. Very tempting and I was this close to putting in a pre-order. But I'm holding out for the M400 Tortoiseshell that I hope is coming this year . . .

Beautiful! Congrats.

Does that mean it was you that beat me in that ebay auction?

Enjoy your pen.
