Generally, a scratchy nib can be a sign that the tines are misaligned. If you have a loupe, you can check the tine alignment. Aligning nib tines is pretty easy once you know what to look for and how to do it properly.

I took a look with my Loupe, and the tines appear to be aligned quite well. I did notice that if I reduce the pressure I use, the scratchiness goes away. This isn't my first gold nib, but it is the largest, so I'm guessing I just need to get used to it.

I did receive my M205 Amethyst the other day and it's perfect right out of the box. :-)

HJB, it's beautiful. Congrats on such a lovely acquisition, it and your handwriting are quite the match.

Gorgeous Toledo, Professor!

I should apologize to tacitus for appearing to slight him in not remarking on <his> collection of Pelikans, too! (Danke, Christof: du hast recht, doch). There are just too many pens that <I want> there! Ha ha! <Stunning> collection of beautiful Pelikans! :)

Also @tacitus: there was very recently a Pelikan embossed-tin shop sign for sale on eBay: it might be worth your taking a look into this?

You're too kind. I'll use the pen to send you a card when you least expect to see juicy strawberry red ink in your mailbox!

Thanks, fellow FPNer from the glorious city of Colonia Glevum Nervensis.

My 100 came in on Friday. I've been playing around with it all weekend. I've misplaced my digital camera, so my iPhone camera will have to do for now. It's a pre-war with hard rubber. 4 chick logo, and Fine Nib with awesome flex. I've got it tanked up with Edelstein Tanzanite.

Lovely! These are such wonderful pens —and so full of history.

I have one fairly similar, but mine appears to be bit later, probably produced during the war. It seems that the cap and body are not matched: the cap has hard rubber, like yours, but the body is different —it has the smooth end knob.

I love it! Yours looks great. My 100n has become my favorite and go-to pen. I'm trying to figure out how to put my 100 into rotation. The nibs on these are fantastic! Why can't modern nibs perform like these old ones?

You said it! I don't know what magic technology they had and we've lost, but those nibs are so supple!

Just a word of warning: I had another 100n, and it actually shattered (!!) on me, so although they have survived this long into the 21st century, I handle my remaining one with a fair amount of delicate care. But I'm sure you already knew that...

Thank you Christof. My terrible picture taking skills, don't do your pens justice! Your pictures are far better.

It's the Hobonichi TS in goat skin. This is for the Techo. They do make a larger one for the Cousin too. I love mine. It feels great, smells great, and compliment my planner and pen. Normally I carry a 400nn tortoiseshell brown with it. It's got an OF manifold nib and agrees well with the Tomoe River paper.

That is not what I wanted to say.

I only wanted to mention that you have my permission to use the pictures of your pen for what ever you want.

M101N Lizard on sale from nibs.com. It'll come with a Mottishaw-stubbed M nib.

Woo-hoo!

Christoph started all this for me. It began, innocently enough, with an M150, a 140, and an M400 Souverän. They're just so handy.

No pics yet but a pair of 100N (later versions with the synthetic seal).

1) Black 'Pelikan Gunther Wagner/EXPORT/EF' marked pen in ok to nice condition. Few small dings, microscratches, no brassing on the clip and rings (aside from some black pitting on the rings though). Nice semi-flex F nib on it, has that slightly chalky squeek to it on paper and some tooth. My current go-to user pen.

2) Just pulled the trigger on this one > https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/classifieds/item/38198-pelikan-100n-ef-extra-flexible-nib/ I had been hunting for a 100N with an EF nib for a while now... can't wait for it to arrive! :)

After all the excitement about the Grand Place and Vibrant Blue I expected more people to post pictures of them. I've seen one review of the M800 Grand Place but nothing else.

I don't have pictures, but I added the M800 Grand Place (B ) yesterday. Gorgeous pen! Pictures indeed do not do justice to it. Lovely nib too - surprisingly a little stubish. So, contrary to what I heard, I can get a little line variation.

Tomorrow my new M805 Black (a bit boring by comparison to the Grand Place...) is scheduled for delivery, also with a broad nib.

Funny thing is that I started with EF nibs about a year ago, and yesterday I received 2 pens with broad nibs (the other was a Pilot 845) and I thought that they weren't really broad enough  .

Edited to update: As soon as I finished typing this, the M805 was delivered. From Italy to the midwest in 2 days... not bad!

My latest Pelikan (2nd one ;) ) is the Souverän M800 Grand Place. Absolutely love it.

Here's a quick pic, together with another 800 I recently got...
