What's Your Most Recent Addition To The Flock? 2016

I absolutely love my M1005. I found a used one in excellent condition for a fair price with a medium nib (which I'd like to have ground smaller). I, too, love my demonstrators and I'll offer a quick tip. Consider investing in a cheap ultrasonic jewelry cleaner (I found one on Amazon for under $30). Demonstrators are tough to keep clean and the M1005 has a spot where the nib screws into the section which traps ink like nothing I've ever seen. I was stumped as to how to clean it, but a couple rounds in the ultrasonic with just water can clean it out.

Thank you for the recommendation. I already see the spot you're referring to and wondered just after I inked the pen how easily that was going to be to clean. I may invest in one of the ultrasonic cleaners as it can work in the other demonstrators as well.

Retired, twice. Time to do more things, writing being one.

I have a M300 on the way, didn't want to post until I got the shipping confirmation.

I've been tempted to buy one of the orange M300s, but it's just too small to be practical for me.

It's roughly the same size as a Kaweco Sport so I should be ok. I got a fairly good deal on this "unused new old stock" green stripe but I'd love to get a Ruby some day.

I guess I need to drop by here now. Tortoise 400NN, which needed a bit of cleaning up, and I had to tune the nib a little bit, but I think it was worth it.

gweimer1, I'd say that's very worth it. The colors are great. Esp love the bit more grey which none of mine show like this one.

My latest was a late night whim bid on a first version 120. It won't shine up like qweimer1's but the piston freed up with just a bit of soaking and cleaning up the outside without taking off the "vintagy patina" or the plating helped a lot. Decent example at a decent price... I'm happy to have it.

I'll be stuck at my M201 and my Stormtrooper. We just took in 4 foster kids, so pen budget went bye bye.

God bless you for doing that. Between you and Paul, you're raising half the planet!

Thank you. They are family fosters. But that doubled the size of my house in one night. 3 bed 1.5 bath, 3 girls, 3 boys. 3 months, 2,3,5,13,15. The two oldest are mine.

Gweimer1: I have to agree with BillH, the toned down color of that particular brown tortoise is really special, and Mehandirata, that is a wonderful find. I think the variability of these striped pens, especially the Torts makes them very special pens. Among Pelikan fanciers we probably own thousands of these pens, yet no two are the same. Can't say that about a black Bic ballpoint.

Fuzzy Bear. Your reward is and will be much greater than any pen. But, if it fell from the sky, what Pelikan would you like to have next?

He deserves at least an M450 Vermeil Green Tortoise, if not a Spirit of Gaudi. Fuzzy, I hope your teens will help out. Prayers headed your way.

My most recent addition to the flock is a Silver Jubilee Pelikan M750 with a nice 14C medium nib. This is one of the early models with the cap engraved: "Pelikan W-Germany 1838-1988".

Actually, would like to go to the M8xx or M6xx. Bigger than the 201 I have. I am blessed to be able to take care of them, though it is a challenge. Discipline was non existent. Though mine was not spectacular, it existed.

Mine are not happy with the tougher discipline, but are handling it. We talked to them before it happened so they understood. Even asked them for their permission, but only to give them some feeling of responsibility.

They have been wonderful so far. My boy got time at a friends house today. The boys, plus the little girl, have been all over him. He's a kid magnet. 13, 6 ft tall, 170lbs, ADHD and acts like a ten year old at times. He's a cool kid. The girl's a natural with the littlest ones.

Good on you, fuzzy! At least you didn't blow your pen budget on something frivolous. And hard to follow that with "um, I have another black M150 coming".

Best wishes to you and your new and improved family!
