I'm not sufficiently expert in vintage Pelican for your question, if you point me to some references I can try to give an answer.

On German made Pelikan, the sleeve or binde (the green or grey marbeled part) is put over the barrel, so there is a difference in diameter of the translucent part barrel of the barrel and the colored part, a step.

For some reasons, on Italian made pens (made at the Pelikan factory Milano), the binde is flush with the ink window. The binde or sleeve is built in the barrel, so to speak.

This greenish Pelikan 100n, it was amongst some other old pens i bought.

It was rather dirty, but the piston and such was in working order.

I don´t really know much about pelikans, but i think it´s from the forties or fifties.

Ok, I have understood now, and I think that I can confirm that the pen is from Milan factory (and being a fan of the Internazionale footbal team which is based in Milan (although I live in Napoli), I'm very happy of this).

Here is one that I've lusted after for a long time. I think that it is one of the most beautiful M8xx based Limited Edition pens that has ever been released. Just an amazing look to it.

That one is elegant! There are two of them for sale on the Bay of Evil—very tempting!

It is rapidly becoming a favorite of the flock. Nothing quite like it.

Sorry to hijack a little, but I got excited when I saw someone self-identify as being from Napoli/Naples. I'll be in your city in almost exactly a month's time. I like to pick up something book- and/or pen-related whenever I visit a place for the first time, so I'll want to pay a visit to a pen shop if I can. Can you recommend anything in the central area, and is there any chance that it will be closed for the summer holiday if I do go?

So, back on-topic: my latest addition isn't really, but it has a new lease on life. It's a P1 (rolled-gold cap, Fine nib). I've had it for a while, but it had had a very stiff piston, so it was sitting around while I tried to figure out how to open it up. Then I came across the trick of using a toothpick as a 'screw' to get the really long section out. I then whittled down a wooden chopstick (toothpick was too short to be comfortable) and applied some silicone grease. Works like a charm now, so it feels like a new addition, even though it really isn't.

Congratulations on getting one of your goals. That's a good feeling.

Fortunately for me, the overlay does nothing for me, so I have no urge to find one for myself.

....ummmm. I "accidentally" an another black post WWII 100N with an EF nib. Ooopsie? :D I bought this one from piscov and going by the pics it is very much minty, can't wait for it to arrive. :)

So that makes the total for those...

2x Green Binde
1x Greyish green/Grey binde
2x Black

1x Black (EXPORT)

1x 101N

Still looking to get one of those black EXPORT models with a clear ink window and maybe another 101N with a clear ink window too (and maybe with a celluloid cap top too). The pens I have are in great condition aside from those little quibbles...

Oh and yeah, I really need to get into broader nibs, most of the 100N I have are in semi/full flex EF or F, with one or two M there (cna't really recall). I recently got this wonderful Parker 51 aerometric that has an amazing and gorgeous stubby BB nib (or something like that). It leaves a really wide and luscious line and I would not mind having a Pelikan 100N that would do the same (with flex to boot).

Congratulations Earthdawn. That is a great looking pen. I like the limitation number too. :)
