The Grand Place has the broad. The double broad stub is on the Brown Tortoiseshell which I bought used. Though I may swap them.

I have got the M805 Vibrant Blue F nib. The pen is so beautiful that it drew sighs of admiration.

I was just walking along, innocently minding my own business, when I happened across the stationery section of a department store in Germany. As luck would have it, they were in the middle of a three-day sale on a few brands, Pelikan being one of them.

So I ended up with the new M205 transparent blue.

Interestingly, I had a chat with the salesperson, who told me that there was now massive demand from China for 'status' pens, which include Pelikan, but also the humble Lamy Safari. Most of the demand was for pens with EF nibs, and was leading to its becoming increasingly hard to get EF nibs. And because of heavy charges on goods imported into China (apparently), Chinese visitors would often buy numerous pens from his store, typically with the help of a list (his personal record was well over 100 pens in a single transaction, sold to a single person). Anyway, that's what he told me. It would certainly explain why online vendors like CultPens (no affiliation) are presently selling replacement Lamy EF z50 nibs at a significant premium (£6.50 for the EF, compared with £4.50 for all other chrome-finished nibs).

Sargetalon's picture of three Pelikan M101Ns has always been a favorite of mine.

So now this little chickie is on its way to comp, ete my little trio.

I didn't set out to collect 'em. It just sorta happened. I was killing time in Houston, waiting to meet with the IRS. So I went and found Dromgoole's pen store there. The tortoiseshell red was there, and just too cool in person to leave at the store. I stumbled on the Lizard on John Mottishaw's site - I think a newsletter mentioned it, and I had liked the red so much ...

So when Billp posted the tortoiseshell brown on FPN classifieds, I couldn't let it pass.

Maybe one day I'll collect vintage M101Ns. But for now, I'll enjoy this little flock writing everyday.

Another addition... I got a NOS M800, made in West Germany, with a 14c B nib. Can't wait for it to get here :)

I picked up an 03B nib in the M1000 size and finally got aroudn to playing with it today. It is a very wet writer. I thought i would share a sample for those interested in what these nibs can do.

The left side of the sample is with no pressure. The right side is with pressure (as much as I care to muster).

The orange ink is from a Greg Minuskin 1.3MM Parker "51" retip to give you a sense of the line width. the 03B can sure put down a wide line if needed.

To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt... write softly and carry a big nib; you will go far.

That is very useful information, Zaddick. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

@uemuraw: Congratulations on that gorgeous new job from BillP (I had looked very covetously at it myself; but decided to employ some restraint -- god, it's so hard, isn't it?). I think that colouring to be exquisite. Enjoy it (and than sell it to me, when you become tired of it?) Ha ha!

Just got a green striated M600 with broad nib from Martemodena in Italy. It arrived in KY in two days! Immediately sent it to Pendleton Brown to be ground into one of his wonderfully smooth italic nibs. My regular carries are a Pelikan 100, 2 100Ns, and a 400NN. But, I write a lot, and my grip gets tight over time. I'm hoping the larger size will help during longer sessions.

A 400 tortoise OB. These nibs are so springy...

Nice. I've got a 400 with the same nib, but not a tortoise, just the "standard" striated green. It doesn't get enough use. I need to do something about that....

Whaddya think, guys? MB Toffee Brown?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Hi Ruth, I have a 140 classic green striated which I love to use with Diamine Teal or Eau de Nil. The latter gives a kind of 50s feel. Currently it is inked up with Bad Belted Kingfisher. I love that dramatic saturation!

There might be a reason why Pelikan's official photos show the pen uncapped or posted ;-)

I guess perfection would be a very dark solid blue for cap, section and knob, similar to the blackish brown on the Burnt Orange.

A vitage 300 still on its way to Islamabad from Karachi. Hopefully, it would arrive tomorrow or day after. It would be my fourth vintage Pelikan. I, currently, have a 400, a 400NN and an Ibis.
