Nope.....

I guess his point is that it would take an eternity to go through the huge barrel of ink considering it is a really "situational" pen.

Hi guys,

Sorry it took so long but here's a comparison photo of the modern Namiki Emperor #50 next to a vintage Sailor 200. The 200 was the largest and probably the rarest vintage nib that Sailor made. This one dates from 1922. Only a couple of them are known to exist

NIkolaos

Thank you very much. :)

I had to re-read your post above because I was expecting it to be bigger than Namiki #50. :P

The nib looks really nice in the picture you posted. I hope it's still going strong. :)

I guess, nothing. I know they hold more ink. To me, a cheap pen feels okay as an eyedropper but a pen costing over a grand, as an eyedropper just feels empty and lacking. I always think they're gonna start leaking.

Well it's a Japanese eye dropper with a shut off valve (to prevent the leaking when you're not using it). Nothing cheap about it. In fact, it's usually used in very high pens only these days.

I never called the pen in question, cheap. I just don't like eyedroppers.

In that case, Yukari Royale (Roiro Urushi) reviewed by shuuemera is a good option, albeit with a smaller nib :)

Just something Romillo said about his #9 nib, "C/C cannot keep up with the amount of flow and ink needed for such a big nib". This nib is bigger than romillo #9.

When the feed holds 0.5-0.8ml of ink, body piston and C/C fillers are useless. Also, there is no way you can find an ink bottle big enough to dip this nib in to fill as a piston filler.

Yeah, I don't know how I'll do with my m1000 with a half filled bottle, can't imagine with those Emperor nibs.

Mew, u r right :D, Romillo#9 seems similar to a Bock#8 (m1000) or a 149

Thank you for the wonderful review, easily one of the best I've read on these forums.

Thank you sblakers for this wonderful feedback :)

:puddle: Nice one Mew. I believe the FM writes comparatively thin than the M, I guess your handwriting is making it look thick..

When are you going to Japan again? :D

Gorgeous ink. Not that I'm jealous... no... not at all ;) It does look a lot like the late, great (and much missed) Sailor Red-Brown.

Mine's inked with Maruzen Athena Sepia. The pen requires a dignified, luxurious ink, not some insipid, dull blue...

Too many pens; too little writing.

I don't know. I will post a comparison screenshot with the pages i had written back in March when i had just received the pen with the current writing sample. I think flow may have increased, but i have gotten comfortable with the current line width. :)

You shouldn't be jealous. :P You had 36 Sailor ink bottles back in 2014 when i had 10. I will post a picture of half of my collection later.

That sepia is a very nice ink, very lubricating with a good flow. Do you completely fill the pen or only half? I do a complete fill because i only buy inks that i like and i have no problems in using 6ml of those inks at a stretch. :)

Yep, i take ink requests, and someone asked me to use a blue in Emperor, i refused. I have Shousaikan Seiran which is a really nice blue, but i am not sure whether i would use it in emperor or not. :P

Lovely! The Yukari Royale is on my list of pens to buy next time I'm in Tokyo. How does it compare to the Emperor?

Apologies, but just to clarify the Emperor is the larger of these 2 pens ( both of which are stunning) :)
