Spell check is a blessing and a curse.

I began with Dr. Vitolo's iPad eBook on Copperplate and then began to form my own hand based loosely on roundhand (the less formal version of Copperplate taught by Vitolo). https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/script-in-copperplate-style/id547108521?mt=1

Use guide sheets and practice one of the main scripts to learn how the pens feel before making a hand your own.

I started last July not knowing a thing. I still have a long way to go, but it is fun.

Thank you so much for sharing! This art form is entirely new to me, and your work is very inspiring. I can't wait to check out the resource you mentioned and begin my own journey, pen in hand! I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks again!

Don't ask me how it writes. It is a dip pen nibbed (needle point to BBBBBBBBBBBBBB). Really!

A-ma-zing!

I was practicing a word and used several different pens.

Top one is a W. L. Mason #42. (made in France)

Moving down,

Impressive. BTW, have you ever tried the Blue Pumpkin? What do you think of this type of nibs?

Infant stage? An understatement, IMHO. Can't have enough of your Italics.

Gorgeous color, wise message :)

Guides for flourishes are easy to find, but hard to duplicate! Here are a couple of examples from Miriam Stribley's _The Calligraphy Source Book_ (Running Press, 1986):

Also, David Harris' _The Calligrapher's Bible_ may be very useful to you for complete alphabets and excellent explanations on how to form the letters...

Just a quick update, since the Monochrome Project have not been moving along very fast (due to the ink capacity of the Vac700):

not sure i agree with you on that one akustyk. I think it all depends on the quality of the flex writing.

Have you seen the video of a nibs.com flex nib modification ?

That's a still from it above ; six million people have watched the video so far .

Lookin' good on the flex! I don't know why you would say, "excuse my terrible handwriting." All lovely pens. :D

Thank you very much! The Newton nib is so soft. It's already a sort of stubbish medium, so the thick/thin isn't as pronounced as it could be but even still, it's very fun to write with.

I love seeing your doodles, by the way. They are beautiful!

The Philadelphia Pen Show is this weekend. Unfortunately, I cannot make it - here is a find from last year...

post-72971-0-80826100-1453468587_thumb.jpg

Beware - If you sit at John Corwin's table to try his flex pens, you will end up with one. The Inkluminati notes he is an evil genius (this is his photo from the Ohio Pen Show).

You see, this kind of post right here... Dang my living on the other side of the Atlantic... I know, there are closer shows, but the Paris one for example still needs to be rescheduled after the tragic events of last November, and it's more a collector show than a proper pen show...

Fountain pen novice. I am aquiring pens at a frightening pace, I am afraid it might be an addiction... I see I am not alone here on FPN! Latest acquisitions - Platinum 3776 Kumpoo with Diamine Eau de Nil, Opus 88 Koloro inked with Diamine November Rain, Franklin-Christoph Model Pocket 66 prototype inked with Franklin-Christoph Honeycomb.

Pilot Custom 74 with music

Very nice Vaibhav! I have been wondering about music nibs, they seem such an interesting prospect...

That's a really interesting design on the Conklin... Will have to look into these... Thanks for sharing!

I was wondering why I wasn't getting updates on this thread, and then I saw we switched over to a new 2016 version. ;)

I used my TWSBI 580AL in Silver with a Pilot EF nib mod to pay a little tribute to our fallen star child.

Teahive, your sketches are just amazing. I am going to look for your sketch thread and suscribe!

Oooh... for my skippy Pilot Custom Heritage 92 this looks like such an interesting project! However I am such a klutz at manual labor, I would be very afraid of just messing everything up!

And more projects, but with the cost of the TWSBI I might consider this one. Of course, that's not taking into account the beautiful vintage nibs.

Gorgeous ink and nice handwriting Vaibhav. I'd honestly never thought to mix inks but you achieved a wonderful color!

Very nice! Have you stubbed this bad boy?

Thanks. It's a broad cursive italic but writes more like a stub - not quite enough

line variation , but always a pleasure to write with.

Watery/wet (what ever one wants to call it) inks sure make for some purdy shading!
