Weekend sketching with and without colours. Done in my fabriano venezia sketchbook, various watercolours and drawn with the fantastic Platinum 3776, which I to begin with had some problems with, but now, after a month of sketching, it's an absolute dream pen. I use De Atramentis archive black ink

wow man.... this is amazing...

Thanks a lot Eli, EoC, Diplomaat.

Well Done Diplomaat, keep drawing!

Awesome Tomas !!! A pro is a pro is a pro........

(Procreate, Apple Pencil, iPad Pro)

all done on iPad....??

Playing with line variation - I don't use the Ahab enough. 'Flex' or not, it has a beautiful line.

Edit - Ahab at the top, then a 1.1 italic in the brighter purple, and a 1.5 italic at the bottom in blue.

Love the hand....

Slowing down with the reed pen...

Was messing around on the internet and found this optical illusion. Simple to draw really, though my shading truly sucks. And the Desiderata Daedalus doesn't really appreciate being used on this kind of paper. Word is written in Pelikan 4001 blue-black.

Pens had some ink in them. Thought I'd better use them.

Looks great EoC, well done.

You could use a Estompe to get smoother shading.

mehandiratta, yes all done digital on the iPad

An estompe? Ah! a blending stick, yes. I do have a couple, but I didn't have any with me that day. It was just a quick sketch, kind of an experiment in drawing something that visually doesn't make sense. The writing is better than the drawing!

Discovered this beautiful orange pen right here on this thread-- the 1.4 mm JoWo nib is butter smooth. This is a brilliant orange acrylic-- very well made -- and the saturated Diamine ink is a perfect match.

Pure orange ! Thanks, Dave -- great work.

Oooooh, just now noticed this particular model has sold out -- usually happens the other way with me : discover it, want it, try to buy it and it's gone. Do you know the feeling ? ( remember the Sheaffer- Levenger Sea pens, for example ?!).

Professor Plume,

I am glad you like the pen, thanks for the compliments. Great choice of ink for the pen!

My new TWSBI Eco pen. Good pen! As for drawing as for writing. Smooth line.

Hi Rednaxela,

my son wanted to post a reply to your kids using his FP (his first one, but I´m sure it will be not his last one). :)

(Pelikan Griffix ..... Pelikan 4001 Königsblau)

Try to make free movements. And fast. Show expression. Check how you hold the pen also.

Your drawings show real skill.

If you want to draw better - start from free lines. Movements! (the same, as in calligraphy: body position - how you hold pen - correct movements. 3 major things, to convert studding time into improvements. And drawing tool need to hold very gently. And need learn to make FAST and long lines. (not very fast - but not very slow). And lines must look beautiful. Start from simple things (draw circles for example). Repeating, repeating, repeating.... When you see that you improved skills - go to another step. Step by step.

I see that TWSBI Eco is very good tool for drawing. Close to pencil. If somebody knows even better tool - will appreciate to listen advise.

Loving the orange! And the drawings continue to impress.

Here are a couple of new additions. They're from less-known lines manufactured by Turner & Harrison and are both quite lovely to use. I seem to be getting a lot of the larger bank-pen-shaped nibs lately. I should do a comparison. These Pacific Railroad pens were confusing at first because Esterbrook made a pen that was #149 and called Pacific Railroad Pen, but is also marked Esterbrook. Then I found in a Turner & Harrison catalog, under the Constitution brand, a 149 Pacific Railroad Pen that looks exactly like this one. And right after I found some Constitution Bank pens. It's all synchronicity. Go figure.
