Not too surprising, but I've got Sheaffers inked. :P

I missed an auction for a snorkel with a Broad nib that went for a very reasonable price lately. I was so sad about it, I went home and inked up one of the three pens I have with the SAME nib in order to remind myself I had no reason to be sad.

Impressive! Being a Sheaffer's fan, I should treat myself to a broad nib sometime. Thanks!

I love that ink! The bottle I have was a bit gunky at first, so I filtered it through coffee filters, and now I just love it. And that's a really beautiful Sheaffer!

I know you love it! Seen your review in Browns, it inspired me to order a small bottle.

My writing is not pretty to look at, but I still enjoy my pens, paper and ink.

Have a great day!!

Congrats! And please, don't be shy of your writing.

You master your Black Elder pens perfectly. Nice ink, btw.

Strangely enough, the Medium is my favourite here. Great pens and spectacular penmanship!

Sorry about the smudge - I thought the ink was dry when I picked the sketchbook up. Sadly it was not.

The smudge just adds character to your lovely drawing.

And again, my two pennies worth:

Awesome! How's the dry time?

Fountain pen novice. I am aquiring pens at a frightening pace, I am afraid it might be an addiction... I see I am not alone here on FPN! Latest acquisitions - Platinum 3776 Kumpoo with Diamine Eau de Nil, Opus 88 Koloro inked with Diamine November Rain, Franklin-Christoph Model Pocket 66 prototype inked with Franklin-Christoph Honeycomb.

Thanks! Drying time a tad longer than average (with this rather wet nib). Should try it in my "drier" pens.

Had our local pen club meeting yesterday and it prompted me to get out one of my favorites. It's a Parker 51 Signet (gold fill) with what I've always assumed was a factory stub nib. During the meeting yesterday it was dated for me as 1948, and the nib was examined by someone who knows, and they pronounced it almost certainly factory and not an after-market grind. It's by far the smoothest nib I own. I had forgotten how much I really like writing with this pen.

I'm loving all of these Sheaffers and horses and others. Too bad I can't draw. Maybe I'll give it a shot later tonight after dinner with a nice glass of whisk(e)y for lubrication. Who knows?

Meanwhile, on a busy Monday,

Eli. What a lovely Shaeffer. When will we see your entire collection of Shaeffers?

Thanks!

Actually, I've posted a photo of my seven Sheaffers in this tread not so long ago. But it wasn't the only family pic:

In the meanwhile, the family is growing. An early Balance Junior is on its way, and I hope to get a decent Snorkel soon.

I am always too late to the drawing prompts party, but I am proud of my horsey and wanted to add it:

Pen: Sheaffer No Nonsense with fine italic nib

Ink: R & K Verdigris, which I don't like at all, which is part of the reason why I "wasted" so much of it for this drawing

Paper: generic paper salvaged from when I worked in an office

You should be proud of the horsey, it's beautiful. Good Salvage on the paper. Why don't you like Verdigris?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I don't like the color - it's too murky/muddy/drab/just plain ugly (to my eye) - and it's a chore to write with. It does not flow well in my pens and I feel as if I am scraping the page trying to write with it. I can't bring myself to toss it out, however, so I'm trying to use it up on all kinds of random writing and drawing. This sample vial is apparently bottomless, unlike the Winter Glow, which seems to disappear before my eyes no matter how carefully I ration it.

Everyone has to have a sheaffer legacy or imperial. They are iconic pens.
