Bird Contest is over? Dragons are birds too?

Hmmm I don´t think it´s over, at least I hope it will continue.

If not birds, then something else.....

Beautiful!

That ink is lovely. I was given a sample of the Kirin, which I also really liked, but of course it cannot be bought anymore as far as I know.

May have posted this in the wrong thread... :)

Today I busted out the Namiki Bamboo Rhodium... I have the Original Namike Broad nib and converter safely stored, and am using the JDM Pilot Medium Nib with Pilot Royal Blue Ink. Sexy pen and writes like a dream!

Yes, unfortunately these Maruzen limited editions sell out in hours and really hard to come by after than... :(

Sexy indeed! Congrats! ;)

In my ongoing search for a Waterman Pink or Brown Color Band No. 7, I did come upon a Brown No. 5. It is WONDERFUL. I have it inked with Pelikan Edelstein Amethyst ink.

post-113310-0-21029900-1457657858_thumb.jpg

The flared (!!) cap with the white stripes —to make the color band stand out more vividly— makes this a later version of the No. 5. Early 1930s? The first version was introduced in 1928, if my research is correct.

The imprint on the barrel is not crisp, but the color is excellent, and the nib is just what I had hoped for: one of those splendid medium flex keyhole nibs that make vintage Watermans such a pleasure!

I thought I might have a go at drawing with a straight holder, zebra G nib, and sumi ink (plus a little pencil shading). Never tried this before. Obvious lack of skills aside, I found it quite hard to control the nib while attempting to draw. In the end I kind of gave it up as a bad job.

This is as far as I got on this attempt.

EoC the horse look amazing, I can't see any lack of skills, the opposite is true, I see talent.

It's a shame that you hidden your drawing talent so long.

I want to see more of your artwork!

Gorgeous Streseman... A Pelikan will probably be my next acquisition but I still haven't settled on the model/nib combination (Streseman, 805 demonstrator, green stripe.... + John's modified cursive italic vs. normal Broad... so many choices!) That green ink is intriguing, it's almost muted green, could pass off as dark gray if not paying attention!

Ooooh, nice! Writing sample?

And this is me fiddling with a cheap pencil. This is probably about the extent of my "artistic" ability to be honest.

I'm sorry EoC but I back Ptero: More of your drawings please! ;) I always enjoy your quotes and self-deprecating little paragraphs!

That you so much! It's much harder for me to stay consistent with printing though!

I agree! 100%

There some really nice versions of the M8xx, so I'm not surprised you can't decide!

This ink can show some great shades. It even has an orange sheen to it on the right paper! Lovely ink!

I wish I could draw like that!

In the meanwhile, my two pennies worth - another copper ink in a golden brown pen:

+1 David, very nice script!

Also, regarding what you are going to do with it, I would say... enjoy it? ;)

A wild 9018 Hero with Fude nib has appeared in my Ebay cart for some reason...
