Now I want to get out my old Targa. I haven't shown my Sheaffers much love lately. Shame on me.

fountainpenpagen: Very spoiled indeed!

ptero: cool birds!

Tas: I really like the look of "frosted" nibs. I wonder why more don't do that.

Inkluminati: And you're quite good at both. And the fact that you don't practice is even more testament to your artistic skill

Today I have a couple of new ones. Finally got myself a full-size red Esterbrook J. And still loving the little 1950's Pilot Super80 I recently got. The #14 rubber sac doesn't hold much, especially when you begin flexing that bad-boy nib, but it's still lots of fun. And the Pacific Railroad nib is a very rare Esterbrook. It's made more along the lines of a British pen of the time, with sharp, short, flexible tines in a big pen. I wonder if these were some of the pens Esterbrook made in their English works.

I recently got a mixed bunch of nibs all connected to railroads or other businesses and in it I found a couple of these, a previously unknown and unlisted 145 Pacific Railroad, a 0149 Monarch Railroad which I'm convinced is made by Esterbrook, and a couple of nibs from the Pacific Mail Steamship Company. I love these nibs from the old railroad and other companies. It seems like all of the railroads had their own imprints put on their nibs. It's the same with Bell Systems (the old telephone company). I have four different models with their imprint. It's all part of the collecting fun.

Fountainpagan, this is a really nice Mabie Todd you got.

Thank you, Pterodactylus.

Indeed a nice bird. But not easy to "fence" with. Still getting the hang of it. ;)

Fountain pen novice. I am aquiring pens at a frightening pace, I am afraid it might be an addiction... I see I am not alone here on FPN! Latest acquisitions - Platinum 3776 Kumpoo with Diamine Eau de Nil, Opus 88 Koloro inked with Diamine November Rain, Franklin-Christoph Model Pocket 66 prototype inked with Franklin-Christoph Honeycomb.

The artwork by people here is amazing and intimidating; for me it's just doodles to see what color ink I like. When you say draw a bird, I go back to the kindergarten way--a "V." Of course, so did Van Gogh! Main colors here are F-C Stone Grey, which I love, and KWZI Honey. The ink in the sky and on the nib of the fairly old Waterman Patrician is Souten.

Very well done Noihvo, Liz

Liz, you might should take a look at the EMF (Ease My Flex) mod.

You can easily modify a Noodlers or FPR flex nib to become a "real" flex pen and get rid of their Chuck Norris semi-flex behaviour ;)

Take a look:

Btw. I know exactly how you feel today, I´m also already very tired. (playing too much around with my pens in the evening ;) and often it gets too late...... )

Interesting how few strokes are really needed to create a bird ;)

Hi Pensei, welcome on board, thanks for your participation, I like your composition. :)

And you actually beaten me, 2 strokes are record to create a bird :D

Since I have no skill to draw a bird with many strokes, I go for minimalism. Minimal skill so minimal strokes.

Oh what great-looking birds! I fear that my version will set a poor precedent...
