I mean there in the background.

Apologies, I didn't realise that pen was in the "calligraphy pens" box, and subsequently in the photo. No, it is a Kaigelu 316, a cheap copy of a classier vintage (a Duofold, I think I read somewhere). An attractive pen, nevertheless.

Soz, should've added this to the other post.

Anyway ...

Rosewood burl, mastodon ivory (certified), ebony.

Fitted with a zebra G nib - if I am ever lucky enough to get some Gillott 404s this will change.

Recently arrived from Chris Yoke. Quite wasted on me of course.

So gorgeous! Congratulations. This looks like an amazing piece of writing equipment.

What a beautiful holder! And EoC, your hand is just fine . . . enough with the self-deprecation, already.

I have a question. Can a left-handed underwriter learn to use a holder like this?

Yes! If you haven't yet, please be sure to check out Ornamental Penmanship by John DeCollibus at:

It is a superb instrument. It really needs to go to a proper calligrapher though. The much cheaper Hourglass holder is more than sufficient for my current and any future level.

Anyway,

Parker Duofold Jr with semi flexible / soft oblique italic. Ink is Oster Fire Engine Red.

Was playing with my new smart phone (it's way smarter than I am and I'm finding it a bit of a steep learning curve) and I think I pressed something wrong so the image looks washed out.

Here's another,

This is also the case for the proper calligrapher.

As said elsewhere, it's a beauty. I think your pointed pen calligraphy is great already, so I'd simply enjoy the pen and make it truly yours.

Did a bunch of big nib italic practice tonight, so for a break I finished the day with a bit of flex.

EoC - that dip nib holder is glorious. What a shape. And you have an elegant and even hand with it, which is much harder than it looks.

akustyk,

I have to say not only is your photography great, but you seem to handle some of the most beautiful fountain pens I've ever seen.

I'm especially fond of seeing all those lovely vintage Sheaffers,

Regards,

Mports

this is wow...

Thanks, Vaibhav.

I really don't understand why this pen is so underrated, compared to the 51. Perhaps it's ordinary c/c filling system? Launched at the wrong time? Certainly not because of lesser nib quality or performance.

These just arrived and couldn't wait to ink them!

Absolutely gorgeous Sheaffer pens! Wow! I hope you post writing samples. Can't wait. These are among my very best writers.

Speaking of great writers, today I am writing with a Sheaffer Snorkel, a very enjoyable pen to write with. And another quote from an old penmanship book.

Tonight, a Lamy Vista with 1.5mm italic nib. And an ink to match my drink.

Of course it suits my hand! I have one already, and love it. Are you uncomfortable with your Junior?

And - congrats on your new holder. it's a true work of art.

EOC -- Osmiroid -- Classic! I chanced to try out an Manuscript -- works like wonder bread. A real charm.

LizB -- Calligraphic cursive? Nice!
