Pine Green - De Atramentis

De Atramentis is german manufacturer of calligraphy and writing ink. The inks are hand made (the entire production process is done manually in their manufacturing center) by i's founder - Dr. Franz-Josef Jensen. I believe he uses high quality dyes from well established European companies like BASF and Bayer.

Pine Green is a classy green ink. I rather like the dark green shade that is actually prestty similar to the green of pine needles. This color seems appropriate enough for business use (not too in-your-face different) yet it is different enough to add a bit of personality beyond just black or blue. In broader nibs it can cause feathering on cheaper papers.

Applause to yet another great review!

One step closer to complete your masterpiece: the world map of the Planet Ink!

I'm also curious... After reviewing so many inks(and some of extreme similarities), how do you decide which one to use for the day? Can you remeber each ink and tell them apart, or you constantly go through the category to pick one out?

Well my choices for everyday ink are actually pretty boring :) There are inks I use all the time (J. Herbin's Lie de The and, recently, Rouille d'Ancre - my shameful secret, De Atramentis Jules Verne and Nagasawa-kobe Souraken Tea Green). Additionally I try to always have a pen inked with new ink or ink unused for many monts with me :) There are inks that I enjoy and list them as to buy (recently the inks that made big impression on me were almost all nagasawa-kobe's, Noorler's Rome is Burning, C. ROberson Grey Hematite and De Atramentis Fog Grey + Maron). I believe I'll be looking for full bottles soon.

Another great review, thank you, Vis!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
