Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Inky Amberlea,

Do you organize your ink cabinets by color family, brand name, or the name of the color? Or some mysterious system based on Library of Congress call numbers or legal docket numbers?

The Cardinal Red looks browner than I remember it. Or am I remembering the old beloved Fireball?

This thread, along with the other ink sample threads has me smiling ear to ear.

I started out with bottled inks years ago, when Levenger first started making inks. They were smooth, consistent, reliable and easy to find. I went into fountain pen and ink hibernation for several years (the dark years? what does one call such a hiatus?). I re-emerged to discover that Levenger reduced the number of colors they produce, thereby eliminating my old favorites.

Yet here, with all of you, I find a whole world of color and availability that I could never have imagined. I feel like a newbie in a fine ink shoppe when hanging out here even though I've been a lover of fountain pens for over 20 years. Each of these conversations is a revelation. So, please forgive my swooning and oogling and silly comments. I'm just thrilled is all, thrilled.

Please continue! I'm here, sipping tea, and enjoying every post. Thank you!

It's not brown at all, that's the sheen that shows up as green on the scanner to give it an overall brown look. Cardinal is seriously RED and I love it.

Uh, it's even more and less embarrassing. I organize country or region to get a specific look and get all the inks to fit in the cabinets. Here is an older picture of the Diamine case.

Well, we will be sure to keep you entertained. I think I sent you a few of these sheets with the Levenger and Sheaffer Reds.

Seriously RED ... well, then, yes, please, pass the Cardinal Red.

I have to say it is both embarassing and enjoyable to read this thread. Embarrassing because I can tell just how bad my handwriting is and how banal my thoughts about the inks themselves usually are.

I do however really enjoy seeing the other much more artistic responses from others.

Since when are thoughts about ink supposed to be deep? I'd say "ink thoughts" are banal by nature--and if they're not, we're overthinking them WAY too much :-p.

Except for Blackstone Colours of Australia inks. They inspire deep and meaningful overthought.

Well Amber, I just called China Post service... They say I can't send liquids. Too bad. :headsmack:

I'll try to find out whether my postal office allows me to send liquids.

LG, I've been dying to get my hands on the Hagoudo Purple Black. Let me know if I have something to trade.
