Converter For Platinum Century 3776?

Recommended Posts

Hello. My Century 3776 arrived today, and a bottle of Sailor black ink yesterday. Exact ink below.

I thought the pen came with a converter, but I must have been mistaken. I'm clueless when it comes to things like this so help is appreciated.

-Thanks!

So should I just buy the Platinum converter? Or purchase the adapter and a cheaper converter? Any suggestions?

-Thanks! It's appreciated.

Compared to just using a cartridge the platinum converter gives just a little bit of extra heft to the pens - really helps the balance and in-hand feel.

The Platinum converter is very nice and holds a good amount of ink. I have the adapter to use standard international cartridges, but haven't tried it with a standard converter. I also refill Platinum carts using a syringe.

I'm looking at the Platinum converter on Amazon however it's badly worded:

  • Special Attention : "Preppy", "PLAISIR" and "#3776 CENTURY "series ("NICE" and Music nib are exception) are popular. But these pen are not attached with converter

The last sentence confuses me. Does this mean that the 3776 Century doesn't work with it or that the pen doesn't come with the converter?

Doesn't come with it, modulo specific dealers.

It really depends on where you purchased the pen. The pen does not come with a converter if you purchase it directly from one of the Japanese dealers on Ebay or Amazon, because it comes that way in Japan. When you buy the pen in the US or in Asia, outside of Japan, most pen stores or the distributor will include the converter because every other manufacturer includes converters with their pens. In the words of a sales person at my favorite pen shop, "it seems so cheap of Platinum not to include the converter so we throw it in with every purchase of a Platinum pen."

Rest assured the Platinum converter will fit ALL Platinum pens, especially their 3776 Century pens.
