Hello everybody.

I've found 2 caps of Parker 51 pens. I woul like to learn more concerning them and certain dates of production.

The first cap has long arrow clip suggesting it is from 1948-49. The second cap has short arrow clip that came with post 1949 pens. If the clutch inside the second cap is closed basket one like that of the first cap it belongs to earlier (post 1949) mki 51 aero pens. If otherwise (with 4 finger open clutch) it belongs to later production 51 aero pens.

mitto, thank you very much. You've confirmed my guesses.

Is it possible for pens getting such body aerometric MK II with "... 4 TIMES, ... SUPERCHROME" and stainless steel filler
(not alluminium or chromium) and cap with long arrow clip or it will be frankenpen?

I'll appreciate if anybody point out any Internet references to Parker 51 pen.

[snip...]

You mean other than http://parker51.com/ and http://parkerpens.net/ ?

I'm sure there are many other references, even in non-Parker-specific places like http://www.richardspens.com/ which at my early stage of interest in fountain pens seems like the "font of all knowledge", but the first two I mentioned have been the most useful so far.

Thanks for reply, Chouffleur. I've already known these sources. I've hoped to learn about others specialized ones. For example, I'm interested in information concerning:

... the clutch inside the cap .... 4 finger open clutch ...

and more.

I had only one pen with the long arrow clip cap and 6 TIMES ... SUPERCHROME... sac guard. What happened was that I had to replace the sac guard as it got broken while replacing the rotten sac on the pen. And I couldn't find the ...6 TIMES... sac guard for the pen. So the pen is now fitted with a ...4 TIMES...SUPERCHROME INK ... sac guard and a long arrow clip cap. In due course I found two more pens with the long arrow clip caps and ...4 TIMES ... SUPERCHROME INK ... sac guards.

And , I have read somewhere that the ... 6 TIMES ... sac guard seems to have been discontinued way earliet than the discontinuation of the long arrow clip cap.

Anyhow while pens with both the long arrow clip cap and the 6 TIMES sac guard are the first year aero pens , those with long arrow clip caps and ... 4 TIMES ... SUPERCHROME INK ... sac guard may either be first year pens or just pens with first year caps (or just replaced clips and/or replaced sac guards). Pens with short arrow clip caps and ... 6 TIMES ... SUPERCHROME INK ... sac guards are definitely with wrong caps/clips.

May be someone more knowledgeable members may chime in to enlighten us all on the subject.

Best.
