(Diamine) Sbre Brown

After a very long (> 2 months) wait my bottle of SBRE Brown from La Couronne du Comte finally arrived.

It's an ink from the blogger SBRE Brown, made by Diamine. It's only available on LCdC, but it seems to have sold out now. (?)

Bottle

A decent and sturdy bottle. Not fancy, but quite practical.

Writing sample

It looks nice. It's a yellow/orange kind of brown, which I like more than red-leaning ones. It writes quite smooth, and is not water resistant.

Comparison

1. SBRE Brown

2. Diamine Terracotta

3. Diamine Brandy Dazzle w/o particles

4. Diamine Brandy Dazzle w/ particles (the scan failed to show them)

It's really similar to Terracotta. Terracotta is slightly redder. The scan makes the difference more evident.

I hesitated pulling the trigger on this ink... and I missed out. A shame, since Mr Brown (for the moment at least) isn't planning to commission a second batch - and it looks like a pretty cool colour. Thanks for sharing your review!

Thanks for the review. I really like it. Those little bottles are great. They are the ones that they sent containing the shimmer samples for testing.

Having just tested my new bottle of Diamine Brandy Dazzle (it arrived yesterday) - and seeing how comparable it is to SBRE Brown, plus the shimmer - I'm suddenly feeling a lot less disappointed that I missed out on this!

Thanks for the review.
It's too bad that this is apparently a LE ink -- it's a very nice color, and I'm glad to see it side by side with Terracotta (an ink I like a whole lot). I wish I had known about this sooner, so I could have tried to get a bottle (it's enough different from Terracotta to make it worth having both inks).

If we ask often enough, and loudly enough, maybe Stephen will reconsider and order another batch??

I would think so. If I remember correctly the inks sold out in less than a few days. If nothing else, it was certainly a decent moneymaker. I'm really hoping Diamine will release it as one of it's standard inks and offer some commission to Dr. Brown. I absolutely love this stuff and will be extremely sad when my bottle is gone.

I was fortunate to get a bottle of Dr Brown's Ink from another member when I came up short pulling the trigger on this awesome ink. It is by far my favorite brown ink and I'm hopeful Steven wil consider continuing the line and expanding it. I imagine his plate is pretty full with his regular profession, but the man sure does know his ink and his first foray into the brewing process is a big winner!

I think all the brewing was done by Diamine not Steven Brown. But I have nothing against cashing in on celebrity and I hope they release another batch of it.

Inked: Sailor King Pro Gear, Sailor Nagasawa Proske, Sailor 1911 Standard, Parker Sonnet Chiselled Carbon, Parker 51, Pilot Custom Heritage 92, Platinum Preppy

I think Vis has his own inks and he's not telling us. Yours are of course, locked away in the ink safe.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It would be interesting to see what sort of blue-black he would come up with ;)
