Restoration Of Unknown. Help Id. Flex, 4.5", Orange. No Id Marks.

I picked up a few pens to try my hand at restoration. On this one I got the nib cleared, which took days of patience and sonic cleaning. The nib is 14K plated and even thought the feed is clear, the nib is a mess. I can not get the grub off and leads me to believe the plating is corroded.

Other that the 14K plated on nib there are no identifying writing or logos on pen.

Pen is 4.5" orange with black flat top. Fine nib, flex with ring top.

looks just like this: Except the nib is different.

A lot of the third-tier (or "cheapo") pens don't have many marks to go on. I have a couple pens just like this one. They're handsome and work well after a good cleaning. You could even trade out the corroded steel nib there for an actual gold one. Look for vintage nibs that say "size 2" in their descriptions, or just 2 on the nib along with whatever company info happens to be on there.

Other than that.. it's a toss-up as to what company made it.

Thanks icywolfe. I will clean the cap extra. Yes the nib says gold plated. It cleaned up well underneath so I am hoping the corrosion is just aesthetics and will not interfere with writing. I will know soon when I ink it. I may be one the look out for another nib, but the flex is the reason I bought it.

Like the bottom poster said then it might be Eclipse, but there are a few other companies that made that color of orange pens.

Also with any old pen check if there is any tipping on the tip as sometimes they can be worn out..... and you don't want to use the actual nib to write with.

#Nope
