Saw this new ink color on the Pelikan web page and wanted to buy today but stores don't have it in stock.

Was anybody able to try this new ink yet?

Cheers

Their group photo of their 4001 inks shown only one green, and three blues, so does his mean they are discontinuing the "brilliant green" and replacing it with "dark green"? And there seems to be a new blue, though I cannot tell from the pictures at various sites whether there is something like a cyan or very bright blue, or if they're adding a darker blue.

Hmm... I see it like this:

1. The Brillant Green is still there, alongside the new Dark Green (http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/de_DE.FWI.displayShop.207220./tinte-4001)

2. That's in the German site but if you change languages up on top of that page, there is, yes, an English (e.g. UK) site but they don't list those colours.

3. No change in blues is evident.

4. My store doesn't seem to have it but I'll tell them to get it NOW!

Well, it's here too (as a picture) in the UK site, it's just that both of those English sites don't list all colours now available -- 9 names in the list and 8 bottles and 8 boxes -- like they do in the Kraut site (http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/de_DE.FWI.displayShop.207278./tinte-4001).

Well the US pen and ink sites (Goulet, FPH, Vanness) don't list a Pelikan Blue-black. Anderson Pens says it was discontinued (for the US?) in 2011. Is Pelikan bringing it back, or has it always been available in EU?

The Pelikan blue-black wasn't discontinued, just not able to be imported into the US - something about one of the ingredients not meeting FDA regulations. It's still made and available from Pelikan and distributors in the EU.

I prefer dark colours so I'm looking forward to seeing this ink.

Yes, the blue-black has always been available in Europe (on and off the continent) and if you're looking for it, don't forget that there are the 30-ml bottles (almost everywhere) and also the 62.5ers (at least at Cultpens) out there.

There was a post on The Pelikan's Perch about the new Dark Green about a week ago:

http://thepelikansperch.com/2015/12/05/pelikan-4001-dark-green/

Slated for a January 2016 release; and according to Sarge's post it isn't yet clear if this is a permanent addition to the 4001 line (which is his opinion) or a limited release. Either way it is a great color.

Great link; thank you!

According to Pelikan:

for our Edelstein Ink we use a different "recipe" and the 4001 dark green additionally has more parts of blue than aventurine. So the colours vary.

Cheers

The old 4001 Pelikan Brillant green (yes, the English spelling, like the German spelling of "brilliant" takes over here from the French job with only one "i") is to remain and will not be kicked out just because the darker version is about to be launched.

Also, this new green, which is to be issued roughly around 1 March 2016 will appear simultaneously with the 2016 Edelstein of the Year. This up and cumming Edelstein is to have as a colour -- you guessed it -- also a dark green. Surprisingly or not, the Edelstein of 2016, like all Edelsteins, is going to be a LE ink, but the 4001 Dark Green is not. Interestingly for some of you dark green fans, but not for us Edelstein oldies IMO is that the LE version -- which can be said to be only very similar in colour to the 4001 version -- will also contain those components made especially for all Edelsteins, namely new and better additives for an increased flow and easier maintenance especially re cleaning and piston care.

The exact name of the new dark green 2016 LE Edelstein will be made known at the end of this week (I was told today). Also, whether or not new 4001 colours are to be offered sooner or later has not yet been determined (the coughing out of any new 4001 blues is still a completely open question).

Aquamarine.... Pelikan's Perch (SargeTalon here) nailed that rumour wouldn't you say? My guess for timing? March. Why? Aquamarine is the gemstone for March.
