Here's a quick photo of the Pelikan 4001 Dark Green. The underlying tonal value is definitely towards blue.

Ack, I feared as much. Might as well go on dumping a bit of Brilliant Black in the Brilliant Green - the 5:1 ratio writing sample I have handy is not wildly dissimilar to my eye; maybe increase the green a tad. Anyway, another wallet rejoices. Thanks for the scan, Migo!

At last a swab of Dunkelgruen on the Net. Thank you Migo!

My wallet is glab because this is the kind of green I don't like. :D

It's one of the cheapest bottles of ink in my cupboard (£3.74), so I didn't mind taking a chance on it. It actually looks quite nice used in a Pelikan 400NN with an OB nib.

Thanks Migo. :)

I was hoping for something darker more towards Diamine green black.

Yes - that's why I called it deep green rather than dark green.

My test swab is on white card (Bristol board) which does tend to hold the ink on the surface and makes inks look slightly brighter. It does write darker on softer textured paper like Leuchtturm.

I don't have the brilliant black or green so I'm OK with this colour. And it's comparatively cheap ink when compared to their Edelstein line, for example, which I'm not keen on at all.

Thanks for the swabs, Migo! You put it right... by no means one of my top 20 (or more) but it is still "okay" to "interesting"... in any case inexpensive. I was expecting something darker but I'm still glad that it's bluish and not brownish umm... reptilian (sorry, Captain)....

Hmm, similar to their Brilliant Green, it has a blue cast also. Not a pure green.

Now to think about it. I will probably get a bottle anyway.

Thanks for the swab Migo. Much appreciated. I think that I'll hold off on this one for now but I'm sure that I'll find a bottle in my collection at some point.

Based on the comments in this thread and elsewhere, green is a color that really seems to divide people. I really like dark greens, so this is certainly in my comfort zone. Depending on what the bottles cost once they cross the Atlantic, I'll be looking to add one or will order a sample to verify things.

Thanks for the picture of the swab. It's refreshing to have a new green ink that I'm still interested in after seeing a sample swab (too many of them are too light for my tastes).

I like dark greens, but not a clearly visible blue-green.

One problem is the pen. The pen can change how an ink looks, significantly. I have Waterman green, kind of a medium green with a blue cast, but out of 2 of my pens, it is a nice DARK green. But making another pen write WETTER does not get that same DARK green ??? So I am curious how that blue cast will actually look out of my pen. I may not see it, in which case I would like it.

+1 on that.

This one I can avoid.
