Noodler's (Fph) Henry Hudson Blue

Living a few hours from NYC I am very fortunate to be able to personally shop at Fountain Pen Hospital. Sadly a city of 8 million can only support one fountain pen store. Well, perhaps my pocketbook is happier that way. They do have some custom Noodler's inks, one of which is this one: Henry Hudson Blue, an eternal security ink. I'm not sure what that means, but this ink is totally waterproof. It may also be "proof" to a lot of other things as well. It's also a very nice color, not totally saturated, but slightly greyed blue, but not in a bad way. It's just not as bright on the page as say Aurora Blue, J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir. It's a very professional looking ink. I like it quite a bit.

The papers used were MvL=Mohawk via Linen, Hij=Hammermill 28lb inkjet, TR=Tomoe River.

There is another review on the forum that's very good and shows this ink as well. If you're interested in getting this ink you might want to check it out. The ink in my bottle doesn't seem to lean as far towards the red as that review.

Not sure how well I've captured the color. Seems a little more saturated in the images.

There is a very slight wash of red from the ink when placed under a running faucet. But the main body of the ink is totally permanent.

My lad, a few years ago, asked me how much a ticket to New York would cost.

Bless him. I was always flicking through The Fountain Pen Hospital's catalogue and he wanted to buy me a ticket so I could visit it in "real life".

One day, perhaps.

Until then your lovely reviews will have to do. Thanks again.

Yes, I like it, too. Thanks.

Nice review.

I bought a bottle of this on a visit to FPH (photo report here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/241794-my-most-excellent-visit-to-fountain-pen-hospital/?hl=%2Bmost+%2Bexcellent+%2Bvisit) a few years ago and it quickly replaced Sei Boku as my "go to" ink for writing checks, addressing envelopes, etc. I always have one pen inked with HHB.

Very good review of the store whichwatch! I'm definitely interested in seeing what Pelikans they get this year.

Thanks for the review.

You're lucky. FPH is, for me, doable about once a year (I have some in-laws that live in the city). I picked up a bottle of Henry Hudson Blue last year, and it's a very nice muted tone. I had passed over it the first time I was at FPH, in my search to match the blue-black ink (that had come out of a vintage pen) for color and shading. That ink didn't match what I was looking for, but I bought it more recently for its own qualities.

I am afraid to go visit. :) My kids call their catalog "mommy porn" - and I can't deny, I drool over the items. I like the ink. Thank you for the great review.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

You need to take a trip to New York by way of Houston, visiting Dromgoole's and Fountain Pen Hospital. TSA would have a ball with your suitcase, which by then would be absolutely full of ink.

Amber's too smart to let TSA mess with her ink. She'd just have Dromgoole's and FPH ship the ink home. :)
