How To Clean Lamy Dialog 3?

bbs

Recommended Posts

OK, silly question, but can't find a definitive answer and don't want to risk damaging the mechanism - as can happen with the retractable MB Boheme if you flush it in the usual way ...

Plus how can you clean behind the trapdoor?

If you unscrew the barrel to remove the cartridge (which I used for its first fill) then the trap door is closed and the water wouldn't flow through the section ....

Seeking help before I explore and mess it up!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Unscrew the part holding the cartridge or converter from the barrel. You can clean that easily..

  • 10 months later...

I see in the Dialog 3 "how to clean" video some sort of screw-in device that is put in place in the section before water is run through the section. I have a fairly early version of this pen. Perhaps later versions have some part missing in earlier models? Or might this be some kind of accessory? If this gadget might hold the trapdoor open so water could pass through, I'd sure like to get my hands on one.

I have a later model which came with said gizmo. I am a little surprised it might not have been there from the start but perhaps it was part of the pen upgrade. Given it goes with the pen 1:1, you may have trouble finding one although perhaps it is sold as a spare (one can lose it). Have you checked with a store or with Lamy? Please excuse the rather basic question. :)

Just don't worry about what's behind the trap door. It will not affect your writing and by not looking, you will never know!

Yes, I've sent emails to "customer service" and an internal contact I "used to have" at Lamy... Silence... Perhaps Erick is right... Let sleeping trapdoors lie.
