Help In Identifying This Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 149

Hello all:

I just bought a Montblanc Mesiterstuck 149, and I would like any help in identifying it as fake or not.

I saw this pen on Amazon last Thursday listed as used for $409.00, and since I have a prime account I would get a discount on shipping, so I sent the seller an emailing asking if it came with a box and if he had any information that he could provide to prove it was "real", & and some other pictures as there was only a single picture of the whole pen, and what I got from their sales people was it was taken in as a trade for something else they had in their store and they didn't have any other information, and they gave me a link for additional pictures. The link to took me to their eBay store for "Northwest Fine Jewelers" and they had a number of pictures and I then noticed it was priced at $389.00. I sent one more email asking about returns and was told I could return it within 30 days if I didn't like it, but I had to pay for return shipping. Well, this pen was listed about $90 cheaper than all of the other used 149's so I whipped out my Amex since it also has fraud protection, and bought the pen with expedited shipping.

When I got the pen it looked and felt like a real 149, but I have never owned one, I had only played with a friends 149 while in college, so I was going to let a friend who has numerous 149's take a look at it. This pen has no serial # on the cap ring, and it only has the word "Germany" engraved on it, nor is the word "pix" on the inside of the clip. The nib is a 14k nib (fine)

I will add some pictures to help.

Any info you can provide would be very helpful...I don't want to have to deal with a return, but if it is fake the sooner I know the better.

Nice 149. It dates from between 1985 & 1991. If the piston threads are black plastic, it is from 85-90. If they are brass, your pen is from 90-91. The other components date it from mid-80s to very early 90s. Clean it up; ink it; enjoy it. Not a great price, but a decent price.

Ok, I have never disassembled a 149 before, so as soon as I get the info I need to make a disassembly I will check out the threads. When did they start using the serial numbers the cap ring, and the word "pix" on the underside of the clip?

Thank you for your help!

The threads is what you see when you fill up the pen unscrewing the piston knob.

I just disassembled my first MB today. There are some helpful videos on YouTube. I waited until I got the right tools in the mail from eBay, though, rather than using paper clips etc.

I was very careful, and the whole process was incredibly enjoyable. I thought MB pens were constructed badly, but taking this 1980s 146 apart convinced me otherwise - except for some cleaning and a bit of silicone grease, it was in perfect working order ... after 30 years. Nice.

Ok, I had to refill the pen and while doing so I clearly saw "black plastic threads" so this sets the date at 85-90. So now how can I pinpoint its actual date?

That's as close as you are likely to get.
