Hello and welcome to FPN!

...and a warm welcome from the Netherlands!

Hello and thank you both.

  • 2 weeks later...

I own one Graf von Faber Castell ink: Moss Green. It is expensive and it's a nice colour, but that's not it's greatest problem. The blood cap is so smooth that I often need assistance to open it. It's quite annoying.

Some turquoise's disappoint. I also enjoy Waterman South Seas Blue/Inspired Blue. It's more of a blue-turquoise and shades very well, whereas Caribbean Sea and Marine are more green-turquoise.

I live in Saxony. Are you in Germany?

I see what you mean about the different flavours of turquoise.

I spend a lot of time in Germany, typically NDS; hence my question.

Hello! I'm somewhat new here myself; but if I may join in -- welcome!

Is that a Lamy nib soaking in your avatar? I've spent much of the last two days soaking two Lamy nib sections, and I would be shocked if there were a pen-feed that holds more pigment.

Every time I think I'm done, I'm not...

Cheers - !

Hi. Nice to meet you. Yes, looks like it is a Lamy section. I know what you mean about it hanging onto pigment: before I got a bulb syringe cleaning was a multi-day exercise. Now it's not so bad. I say that thought, I'm about to flush a Safari that has been inked for months and rarely used. That might not clean so easily.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
