Montblanc Limited Edition Online List

Hi Folks,

I have been an anonymous visitor of this site for years, but it finally occurred to me to create an account so I could share some information back that some of you might find useful.

I have been accumulating data on Montblanc limited edition pens including sample pictures, edition sizes, notes, material and year of issue. I have been able to obtain some of this information directly from the site. The notes I have taken are found here:

http://www.trovestar.com/pens/montblanc/limited/index.php?Collection=15

I would welcome any corrections and/or new data. Just post it in a reply to this message or you can log on through google and change the entries yourself. I am especially interested in pics and data on the very limited editions of certain pens. I also welcome correct model numbers.

Currently the database is set up to have just one pic per pen, but it is fairly easy for me to convert it to a gallery if you folks think that multiple pics is desirable.

Thanks

George

This one opens a couple of questions.

1) The forums seem to indicate that the incorrect version is the "son" version where the MB site indicates the "father" version is incorrect. My gut is that the website is correct due to the fact the the writer had a very famous father, a Napoleonic General, and I do not know that any of the writer's sons were particularly famous. Could someone opine on this?

2) Anyone know how many of each type exist. My understanding is that there are a total of 16,000 Ballpoints, 20,000 fountain pens and 9,000 pencils. How do each break down in father vs son?

Dumas had son and father versions... Didn't see that categorized...

The Dumas the son signature was an error and recalled almost immediately. It is unknown how many actually made it into the wild. The two editions are the same except for the signature on the cap. Since they had the same name it is only the handwriting that identifies the two.

The Alexandre Dumas, father, is generally regarded as the more famous due to his having written The Three Musketeers, The Man in the Iron Mask, and The Count of Monte Cristo.

The cap also has the letter N after the edition number to identify it as a corrected cap.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just added it. I found two 3000 edition items: Rollerball and Fountain Pen.

Anyone know if both Kennedy and Warhol are 2015? Was one of them 2014?

I may have missed it, but I cannot see a reference to the "Alfred Hitchcock"?
